Art critics shouldn’t work security.

Last week or two weeks ago I read an article on the BBC. An elevator maintenance person was working on an elevator in an art museum (Holland maybe?) and came across a couple of dented beer cans on the floor. Being a conscientious worker they picked up and tossed the cans.

OMG! You fool! It was an art installation. The museum workers frantically searched the bins until they found and “restored” the artwork.

Are you sure it shouldn’t be rotated 90 degrees clockwise?

Put a F before art and that is exactly what modern “art” is.

This actually occurred in at least one art museum.

Fact: A painting by Dutch artist Piet Mondrian has been hanging upside down in various museums since it was first put on display in the 1940s. The error was discovered only two years ago. The painting, titled New York City I, is of a grid of variously colored lines.

It is feared that to try to now hang it rightside-up would cause the painting to disintegrate (I don’t know why).

How ’bout the McDonald’s pickle “sculpture” ? It was flung onto the ceiling of The Michael Lett Gallery in Auckland, New Zealand. The pickle was installed by artist Matthew Griffin and sold for $6,150 (USD)

Appreciation of Gadoit’s art is all in the eyes.

It still passes with flying water-colors.

Artists frequently view their own work upside down. Your brain tends to automatically idealize shapes and forms. Viewing upside down causes a “break” in that adaptation and allows you to see “mistakes” or things you would do better.

I have never understood the appeal of Picasso.
