A detail that I just noticed is that Florence’s text, whenever it should be fancy in the context of a unicorn, has a fuzzy and grimy look. For example, Marigold’s pronunciation of “Shield of Boringness” (pretend I typed this with the Old English font) looks more refined than Florence’s Shield of Boringness. It’s subtle, but effective in displaying Florence’s “unfortunate” tone of voice, despite being the wiser and more eloquent of the Nostrils sisters.
That’s probably one of the reasons they all are so quick to resort to it—it’s faster and easier to just say “unicorn!” rather than give the probably much more technical and difficult for the layman to understand explanation.
When movie theaters had movie quizzes among the trailers and ads for local businesses I liked to answer every question out loud with “Clifton Webb.” My wife didn’t like it.

Because I’m omniscient, I already know every question you’re going to ask. But I’ll let you ask them anyway because that’s what feels right to you.

Haven’t heard that response in a long time. Now goodbye for another few years, Florence.

I find that response sadly lacking and unresponsive.
