Or we could just set up a system wherein the schools with the collectively richest and most fanatical alumni (looking at you, SMU) buy all the players.
Too funny! I’d love to see this matchup, but unless it’s the ME72 Engineering Design Competition, or the High Power Rocket Competition, I don’t foresee it.
It’s difficult to tell with the schools in the BiG 25 or whatever. Rankings don’t seem to have much value when your schedule includes Eastern Sandusky Vocational Technical Institute.
Curious about bowl games, I “googled” and read the list, the long list of the 24-25 bowl games. I giggled about some of the names — really wish they hadn’t started using sponsor names. When it started, we used to laugh about a ‘Charmin toilet bowl’.
Then, I started noticing the ranking numbers of the participating teams. I found a #49 and a #52 and was curious what happened to #50 and #51, so I “googled” football team rankings but couldn’t find any listing on the web that went past “the top 25.”
How can you have bowl games including teams with rankings so low that nobody bothers to list them for the general public? Why bother pointing out that a team is ranked #52 when no one can look and see what other teams are #51 and #53 or even #35 or #27? Why bother showing their rankings at all? Is it something to do with betting odds? It certainly isn’t going to make that good a memory for the players.
I thought that Caltech long ago dropped out of intercollegiate football. The story goes that their loss-win record (notice the order) was so bad that they decided to play against the local high school teams instead, until they realized that those high school teams were better than the ones they had already been losing to.

This is over 20 years old, and yet, there are still people who make the same idiotic mistake.

All I know is I miss the days when the Big 10 season existed solely to decide whether Ohio State or Michigan would lose the Rose Bowl to UCLA………
(And nothing else really mattered)
