One of the great philosophical questions asks why there is something rather than nothing. Descartes had a thing to say about that. Søren Kierkegaard had a few more things to say about it, but at least he saw the humor in the situation. Jean-Paul Sartre practically beat Western philosophical thought to death with his magnum opus “Being and Nothingness.” The humorous aspects were most clearly illustrated in the movies of Woody Allen. There was even a comic strip about his engagement with the great riddle of existence by Stuart Hample called “Inside Woody Allen” that ran from 1976 to 1984. The only collection of a sampling of the strips was called “Non-Being and Somethingness.” And today we have what may be the last, best word on the matter from …drum roll… CAT!

The nothing Cat’s not thinking about might not only be something, it might be everything.

If nothing is everything and everything is nothing, then nothing really matters. Or as Metallica would say: Nothing Else Matters.

In physics we would ask, does matter matter?

Doing nothing and thinking about nothing isn’t as easy as it seems it should be.

Words aren’t the best form of communication. Unfortunately we haven’t figured out a better one.

I’m to busy trying to be one with everything to worry about nothing.
