I think it is all based on the highest earning colleges spread across all the conferences. It’s all about the money as usual.

There’s hope, Arlo. It’s rumored that Belichick is getting back in the game at the college level.

Yep, Alabama will probably make it into the playoff again despite a 9-3 record and wins against creampuff schools.

You don’t HAVE to Arlo. You COULD do something radical and GET A LIFE. Turn the TV off, do something useful or interesting. Learn a hobby, go for a walk or a bike ride.

Stop living vicariously through little boys in mens bodies playing childrens games.

Considering who are playing for the Big 12 championship now I would say there is hope that will not happen. ASU!!!

The fact that 3 loss Alabama team is in the playoffs tells us what we already suspected, the SEC gets preferential treatment from the selection committee. Alabama is barely a top 25 and obvious to the unbiased, undeserving of being in the playoff.

you can blame that on both polls, and Alabama or Georgia will be in it even with 4 losses

Unrelated to any comic, I saw an AMA video yesterday about the H5N1 “avian” flu virus spreading through touching our eyes. The current fatality rate of that virus in humans is reportedly in the 50% range if not promptly treated but spread is low at present.

American Medical Association video: “Bird flu in California, walking pneumonia in kids and more viruses going around at the moment 2024” reports redeye is a common first indication of the H5N1 flu.

I hope nobody needs this comment.

Sports suck now. Gambling ruined it, and so does the incredibly high prices, and not many of the athletes should be looked up to in any way…

NIL Has turned it to the wealthy colleges win. These aren’t students, they are now semi-pro athletes. The playoff system is still horrible, and the college poll system really doesn’t work for rankings. OSU Lost to UoM. A #2 team lost to an unranked team, in their own stadium. I’ve seen teams drop 8 and 10 spots for that kind of loss, and yet OSU went from 2 to 6.

Having worked with the father of a now pro-footballer the stories that come out of these places is horrifying. They literally spend MILLIONS of dollars a year on essentially nothing, they need to in order to show they aren’t ‘profiting’. OSU, UoM, Alabama, and many other big schools could literally fund the school off the football program, but that isn’t good for business…smh…

The trick is this. The NCAA ranks the same teams in the top 10 every year. Those teams play against nothing but losers to ensure they have an almost unbeaten season. Then those same 10 teams always play in the big Bowl Games. THEN, some moron came along and expanded the usual 6-7 bowl games into 47 or 48 bowl games, just so the revenue will skyrocket. Now any 2-10 team can play in a “bowl game”. What a total joke that is.

If Arlo is looking for “anybody’s guess” who is there, consider collegiate women’s volleyball. There are conferences I’ve never heard of playing well. It seems to be open until the last 8 matches most years.

If you’ve seen one team of lunkheads clobbering another team of lunkheads once, you’ve seen ’em all… college or pro.

    Read a book instead.

Fun fact: In the ten years of the four-team format, only once (2020) did we we have four teams that had all made the playoff before.

Too lazy to google it, but how does a 12-team playoff work since it’s not a multiple of four? I.e., what’s the bracket look like?
