I wasn’t really surprised when some restaurants started putting time limits on customer visits. It was either that or get rid of the free Wi-Fi provided as a perk of patronage. Some of their freeloading customers stretching out their visits with only one coffee purchase were probably starting to take root.
My in-laws are Spanish, so before the days of free roaming (when browsing the internet on your phone would cost half the Earth) we would go to a local bar that had free wi-fi to partake of the web. The home we stayed at (my mother-in-law’s) had no internet. So I completely understand why someone would go to a bar or cafeteria for the wifi.
Our four mutts ensure I get up and walk a bit every hour or whenever a squirrel enters the back yard. I’d install a dog door, but that requires replacing the door first, too much window.

Maybe you should go to a place that’s about the coffee and not the wi-fi speeds.

It’s not much different from watching the morning news on TV during breakfast.

Saw a local news report about people outside at an ice cream place eating ice cream. Everyone was on their phones.

Ah yes, new year, so time to recycle the old boomer humor punchline.

Until my eyes focused, I saw “Lard Land” & thought it was a donut shop! Same joke though!

If everyone would stop complaining about people being on their phones, you’d notice that everyone there has the same car…

I use Data with my phone, when the WiFi is turned on, it stalls out and takes forever to download anything.

It’s worth noting that everyone has a worried look. Seems about right.

Way back when, I used to do basically the same thing, only with a book and a walkman (when they arrived). Of course, I only did that dining alone.

Earlier today I had to go to the sporting goods store in the mall, when I went in from the parking lot I saw the same thing there.
