CAN’T CATCH CALVIN!

I’d kill ‘im!

What a sweet boy can Calvin be in frame 2. Dad should have known that wouldn’t last very long.

Wish I’d have done more often, smiles are boring.

I used to pull the same stunt and pretty much got the same reaction from my dad.

Did we expect anything different from Calvin?

And besides, remember the relatives…………..they might not be coming now!

i don’t mind when folks do this if i’m using the digital camera, but they better not waste my film!

Those relatives certainly won’t be coming now.

I was a Calvin…drove my mom crazy.

Simple press the shutter release on the count of 2, and then still chase the lil tike after 3 just so he doesn’t suspect ;) Not that it’s easy to catch a child, they are just too nimble, you need a team effort and a tight corner lolz

as if Dad didn’t know that was going to happen…what did he just meet Calvin or something…He obviously dosen’t know his own son…They need bonding time….This might end up on Calvin’s critique on his Dad’s behavior. LOL

For god’s sake you don’t expect Calvin to maintain the same face like panel 2 for eternity. Its obvious and the shutterbug needs to more creative in capturing the moods he likes!

Calvin, PLEASE don’t scare us with that kinda faces.. (referring to panel 2)

Same to me! When I should be fotographed, I look horrible in this moment! It doesn’t work, I can understand Calvin by heart!

Dad did it all wrong it should have been One, tw….click!. Though at least now, relatives will be getting a true photo of Calvin!

Dad should know better than to wait till count of three. He should have clicked on 2.

Dad is so naive…. one could think he doesn’t know him well… lol. After all he doesn’t give up to believe in the good…

I always take the nice smile, some poses, and some silly faces. I love them all!

Calvin doesn’t want the relatives visiting anyway.

Hobbes should have been in the picture too! He is part of the family.

Hey, I like the idea of taking a series of serious and silly shots. Dad could negotiate with our little Rebel Without a Cause and offer the chance for silliness in exchange for a chance at seriousness.

Just one out of quite a few Calvinesque descriptions:

ENFPs have what some call a “silly switch.” They can be intellectual, serious, all business for a while, but whenever they get the chance, they flip that switch and become CAPTAIN WILDCHILD, the scourge of the swimming pool, ticklers par excellence. Hobbes, on the other hand, would be polite and possibly do that smile where you close your eyes and grin, or something like that.

Hair is the last thing that Calvin should be worried about when Dad catches him.

I always took one “nice” picture with the kids: the reward was a series of silly pictures afterward. We all loved it!

My favourite students were the Calvins of this world: they continue to be my friends after all these years.

So that’s what Calvin’s supposed to look like at his best.

I’d keep it, send it to all my relatives, then keep one for Calvin’s wedding day. Then when he has kids, I’d bring it out and rub it in his face when he complains about what horrible brats he has (because as you all know, what goes around comes around)

Jeez Dad .. Calvin was only helping you for the relatives thingy .. (am sure Dad is only angry cause he got owned .. lol ) ..

He should’ve known better than to wait til three .. duhh …

The question is: what was dad like when he was a kid and if it’s “the same as Calvin” then he shouldn’t complain. And if it´s not, then he should hold it till Calvin has his own kids like Sheila says.

It would have been surprise for us if Calvin you would have allowed your Dad to take that picture :)

Nice trick Calvin….to get your hair back in shape…and putting the blame for ‘spoiling’ them -as mom would call it- on dad…!!

and this reminds me of a friend who used to click on the count of ‘ONE’.. to get some interesting pictures….

I never liked having my picture taken either. Unfortunately, I had an uncle who was a photographer. My trick was to wait until just before the shutter clicked and then I’d wink. After a while dear uncle found other things to take pictures of besides me winking.

i did something like that with the picture for my sophomore class yearbook, when my mom saw it, she was kinda angry, but my uncle got a good laugh out of it. he said that is definitely you

I know why I love Calvin…I was him!

So I’m not the only mom who said I would take the picture on 3, but clicked on 2? My kids weren’t Calvinesque in general, but they did read the strip and books and developed their sense of humor accordingly.

His mom better not tell him his face will freeze like that. He’ll love it!

This is just one more aspect of Calvin’s Scribble-esque behavior (see “The Line and the Dot: a Romance in Lower Mathematics” for the reference) that I just don’t understand. I personally have always loved having my picture taken, and would never have thought of pulling a stunt like that, especially if I had been expressly asked not to.

In other words, so Calvin has to be perfect for three seconds. What’s the big deal?

Those were probably the longest 2 seconds for Calvin in the year…. Dad, you won’t get him to be “that good”, ‘til next year, :-).

Panel 2 is the kid all parents want. Panel 3 is the kid all parents get.

Calvin dad should not count just snapped the picture while Calvin smilled. While watching this show a celebraty had her kids take picture of Christmas she showed the picture and had a theme going Have a Crapy Christmas becuase the kids where not behaving and she thought why not. She sent them out as Christmas cards.

I love making faces at the camera at the last second. I can be such a Calvin sometimes, and I’m a 13-year-old girl!

But, again, Johanan Rakkav, Calvin is not an extravert! Where are all his crowd of friends in that case? Where’s his love for attention–even getting his picture taken? He’s more of an introvert, an INFP–even this profile lists him among the “Fictional INFPs”

aside from everyone commenting on when dad should have clicked, what;s the big deal? He didn;t want the relatives visiting - reference yesterday’s strip :)

Watterson made Calvin the poster-child of cartoon facial expressions. I’ve practised many of them but mastered few.

Calvin is just practicing for his driver’s license photo in a few years…

On 3 …1..”click”… come on dad you gotta stay one step ahead.

My wife and daughters HATE being photographed, altho they like to take their photos of their own. I ended up with so many Calvin-style photos that at Disney and other attractions I have been known to sneak up and shoot over another dad’s shoulder just to get a nice shot of a smiling, cooperative family. There actually are such things. I show those pictures, and people ask “Who’s that?” and I say “I have no idea, but don’t they look nice?”

Instinctively, Calvin would have known exactly when to break his pose, whether it was one, two, three, or “look at the birdy.”

He’s got his parent’s number.

Photographer’s rule of thumb: Never shoot children and animals because…well Calvin leads by example…
