So that’s why Calvin’s so mean. His father lies to him!

Uh-Oh, Dad. Methinks thou art BUSTED. Mom may need to do some remedial training in parenting skills with Dad lest “Junior” grow up to be scarred for life with a jaded view of magic.

Of course Mom knows it’s not magic. She cuts the check to the power company each month. That’s how it turns on!

Magic is in understanding … and I think Dad knew that the full explanation would be more than Calvin could grasp. I enjoy “magic”, but then I want to find out how it’s really done.

Dad has some ‘splaining’ to do. He will need some ‘magic’ to restore his credibility in the ‘polls’ after this one, not to mention his relationship with Mom. Perhaps Mom can be inveigled with the following lyrics: You sigh, the song begins, you speak and I hear violins It’s magic! The stars desert the skies and rush to nestle in your eyes It’s magic! I don’t see Mom explaining how it works. And just because she pays the electric company, that doesn’t prove anything. Magicians get paid too.

How many out there remember mom or dad complaining about having to pay the “light bill”?

I don’t read all the comics so have missed the entry about Marg’s accident. Would someone update me tomorrow on Calvin & Hobbes ? I still have a few to read today and may hear about it, but this must have been posted yesterday.

Mom might want to agree it’s magic if she doesn’t want to try to explain how it really works. She will spend 30 minutes telling Calvin, and he really doesn’t care. Magic it is!!!!

Realistically, I’m with dad on this one!!! Think about it, electricity IS magic! What is magic? It is anything that seemingly doesn’t have an explanation. So yes, there is a scientific explanation to electricity, but for all “magic” illusions there’s a scientific explanation. When you watch a light come on, or hear a vacuum or a radio turn on, or see lightening strike, IT’S MAGIC!!

Magic has a plug??

A lot of magic in a house. Dads not going to like it when Calvin learns the truth.

Marg: Get well soon! We miss you! I took a fall off my bike when I was in high school and broke the bone in the back of my ankle. Took two weeks before they could set it because it was so swollen. Nothing worse than a broken bone. I feel your pain!

Sometimes it’s just too complicated to try to explain to a little kid and magic is the only thing you can come up with. Maybe Mom can come up with something better.

Thank you everyone for your good wishes. I have one heck of a black eye, and am on drugs that kill the pain, but They make me a little woozy. I really want to get riding again, but I have to take it easy for two weeks.

Calvin now has the task of sorting out who, exactly, is the Dad in the family, his mother or that guy that sits around reading the newspaper all the time….Eventually he will come to realize that adults do NOT know everything in the world and have feet of clay. It will be some years after that, if at all, that he will realize the same thing about himself. Sic transit gloria mundi……

When I was boy (and many of my paragraphs start with that sentence), I went to bed by lantern light. Not only are electric lights totally magic, but the whole world is full of magic. Isn’t it interesting that Thomas Edison’s light bulb will soon be totally outlawed? You are only a hero for a short time.

Due to my life, I always get late to the comics, but I surely hope Marg feels better soon, and the spammers just disappear!! Do love the repartee with this group….
