I suppose if you get buried under the zucchini harvest, you get ‘squashed’.

If you want a single zucchino, you have to go to Italy.

Fried zucchini blossoms are delicious - plus, every one you fry means one less squash, a win-win if ever there was one.

Gweedo…we tried a few types of heirloom tomatoes in earth boxes (to avoid nematodes) last spring. Most of them did failry well and were flavorful. But tomatoes only grow through June here in central Florida. I sprayed with true Neem oil and seaweed once a week to keep down the bugs and diseases, which are the big cause of heirloom failure.

Aw, heck! Forget tomatoes, why can’t pineapples grow that fast? Or strawberries for that matter?

For the curious, Webster’s says that “zucchini” and “zucchinis” are both acceptable as the plural of “zucchini.” (http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/zucchini)

Andy could always put some of them in the compost pile…

When my family had a garden, we’d put all the ones that rotted early into the compost pile, and I’m sure that would work with unwanted zucchini too.

When I grew up my mom planted a garden and zucchini was not one. Had strawberriers, tomatoes, watermelon, catonlope, etc. Nice eating; although my sister got tired of strawberries. This was done in sandysoil with stickers.

[sigh] That sure going to make a lot of zucchini bread.

If I were Paige, I would think the plural of zucchini is the same plural in sheep and deer. Zucchini.

We put the unwanted zucchini in the compost – they sprouted more zucchini plants!

We’re having that same problem with cucumbers right now. The other day we picked 10 oversized cucumbers and they’re still coming. I’ve had half a dozen cucumber salads and cucumber soup in the past 3 days. Through naturally the best salad involves tomatoes which are not quite in season yet.

Now if the zucchini and yellow crookneck squash (which is incidentally slightly better than zucchini) would just start producing like that. I really do love zucchini, and tomatoes, and corn, and strawberries and … well, you get the idea.

We grew patty pan squash again this year, and it’s so much tastier than zucchini. My husband cooks it on the grill.
