There certainly are a lot of people gesturing to themselves with their thumbs today.

    Panel Two:

Why, Mr. Pops, I had no idea you were capable of smiling! You should shoot Funny Dead Ducks more often!

All the criminals are still standing around! Why doesn’t Tracy arrest them? Or, why don’t they make a getaway?

Why did Barb Els wait until Louise Trapeze was in the air to shoot her? Wouldn’t it have been easier to simply shoot her while on the ground and not during the show?

Next story, please. Dick Trazy vs. Godzilla! Gamera comes to the rescue!

Y’all don’t give Dick Tracy nearly enough credit. Seasoned detective that he is, Tracy knows that once he formally arrests somebody, he has to read them their Miranda rights, they’ll get all lawyered up, and the flow of incriminating information will cease.

This was about a fight for who got to kill ringo first, right? Why would Pops support that? And who was the FBI insider?

I prefer to think of it as being dead right from the start, we are looking at a mindless “zombie strip”. Hang in there Carlo - it will end soon. After all, the time is half-past-November already.

I recall that many many moons ago, when Mr. Pops fired his gun, he had a sad expression.

Actually, the hand drawings are not too bad at all today!

Uh, exactly when did Tracy say he suspected the clown? Why did Barb Ells just incriminate herself? “..it happened” certainly sums up this never ending mess.

Nice hand in the last panel. Maybe too small for Barb, but still pretty good.

Sure, everybody always gives up when Tracy asks them. And why is this the first time we’ve heard that he “suspected” Pops? AKA Sicko the Clown….

    More Lameness…..

“Two shots at the same time is impossible – so you were partners in crime with Barb Els !

    Dick Tracy.

Truly impressive Watson ! What a scintillating leap in deductive logic. The Judge will marvel at the insight and power behind that revealing opinion. !

And that it was quite normal for the Clown fire his old Blunderbus at that stage (“POW”) on 7-24, for as Bonnie observed - “Usually a dead duck comes falling down, funny, huh - Dad ?”

Now, all Tracy has to do is “FIND” the murder weapon and get ballistics to prove Barb Els had “possion” and “fired” it ! as all this will be needed for a Prima Facie case - to convince a Judge - It’s called ”evidence” Mr. L !

A tad more than off-the-cuff “hunches” or wild theories from a Detective who can’t even prove why he has been a gumshoe, - “stuck” in a Circus Ring for three months !

Why do I think they are just going to “handcuff” all the accused, march them off - and we’ll never see “evidence” discovered, or hear anything more about the whole thing again ?

Perhaps, because Locher (a former test pilot), in bringing this Tracy tale down for a soft landing has had his landing gear et al, all fowled up, and … now we know what HAPPENED !

“Two shots at the same time is impossible”…? OK, that means that Barb and Pops shot at different times, which didn’t happen. And how this proves that Pops had a partner, I have no idea.

Augh! Such Stupidity! If Tracy suspected the frigging clown why did he not, like, have him questioned. Or searched. Or disarmed. Before he got put in the tiger cage. Why am I even asking?

The next story arch will start next week. It will involve Pops again, and contain a lot of his back story and explain his actions in more detail. Also it will reveal things about Ringo. The King of Clubs is back too though I will say now he is not Pops or anything.

He deduced the guilt of Pops by assuming a person couldn’t possibly shoot at the same time as a clown going through his carefully timed, well rehearsed and choreographed circus act? Even Bonnie knew when the shot was coming. Round up the other repeat patrons! More suspects!

Actually modena, 30 years ago this strip was pretty good…it had a minor renaissance when Chet Gould retired and Max Collins took over the writing. He freshed it up majorly.

The decline really started just four years ago, when TMS in its brilliance let Locher write the strip as well as draw it. What I totally don’t understand is why Locher is STILL getting paid to write it, something he’s clearly not good at, when he’s retired as the artist.

I also don’t understand why they didn’t hire a better artist.

    Jumbo,

With a little bit of luck Mike Curtis and Joe Stanton might do just that. They are in the process of doing a ”tribute” story, which (which will be seen on the internet), all with a view to impressing (and hopefully) getting to do the strip for TMS. i’ve seen some early pencil work and they look REAL GOOD !

They are calling it the “MAJOR CRIME SQUAD” (interesting as Locher has effectively disbanded/squashed that grouping. Pointlessly, I may add.

In the story, Patton will still be Chief, Sam and Lizz and Junior will be there and it includes the “return” of Willie the 5th and Flyface (1959 - who you may recall were thought to have died in a Tsunami wave on a beach near Hawaii.

It should be up in another month or so. I’ll keep you advised.
