The term “long hair”, when referring to music puts Locher back in the 50’s - which is where he’s been all along since he took over the strip. Just like the art-deco buildings he draws, I bet his TV at home is a black-and-whiite Philco. That is a big part of his problem.
Putting Macy in present times, and having his thinking sixty years in the past doesn’t help.

H’mmm…I bet all he wants is a home cooked meal (or possibly an ordered in pizza), maybe a few beers, and time to kick back. Instead he’s going to places like the circus and the symphony…
Hey, for the next story, maybe Tess could drag Dick to a NASCAR race… To hang out with all the “beatniks”. Just don’t go to the opera, Dick! Too many “hipsters”!
“Am I ready for long hair music? Let’s see, I’ll take my gun this time, and my wrist thingie, make sure the taser’s charged, and a three month supply of protein bars. Yeah, I guess I AM ready”

Because all the great composers had long hair. This saying probably came about before the 60’s when rock musicians had long hair. Notice how its mostly old people who refer to it as such? ”
Kids used to behave decently, have respect for their elders, and obey the law. Then they started growing their hair long and listening to all this “hep” classical music, and society went completely to Hell.
And don’t even get me started on these opera “singers.” Bunch of degenerates reciting nursery rhymes about their own criminality and lack of self-control, if you ask me!
Anything composed after the fall of the Roman Empire is pure trash, and ought to come with warning labels so parents will know to keep it out of their children’s naive, little hands!
Speaking of buildings (Art decco or otherwise) Those we have seen this year in One-eye Jack and now in “Long hair Country” look awfully pedestrian, and those “drawn in a hurry” (?) off balance lamps (Tracy’s home and HQ) haven’t eased the drift to visual incompetence. I’d have to guess it’s Brozman’s fault, unless Dicky did the penciling ! Sadly, “Senior” partner Locher just lets them all “fly by” without a tap on the knuckles. Just like he did with Kilian’s goofs (eg. forgetting to “name” 4 principal villains). You’d think as main man he’d have intervened (?)
Odd thing is, back in early 2008 he exceeded expectations with his Haunted House Mansion.

Why does Tracy keep referring to the symphony as long-hair music? That just makes me think of 80’s rock bands not classical music.

Is Tracy ready to stand around on an orchestra stage for four months talking about nothing?
