Lemme take a stab in the dark: He’s missing his bow and now will have to play his violin with a ruler and a rubber band? How very MacGyver…

As previously stated, Maestro’s son made off with Jack Cobb’s ladder!

    Ba-da-boom!

    In other news…

Those cross-shapes in the windows on the right-hand side of the auditorium look strangely similar to the insignia of the Vril Society and various ranks within Hitler’s SS.

Yes, I am aware of the pizzicato method of playing, I was being hypothetical for fun. This comic strip needs it.

I play cello and I use both bow and plucking to play. Of all the things that a concert master could be freaking out with before a concert, other than losing his violin, would be his bow… or music.

Aw shoot, now I’m reading too much into this strip and will start knit-picking the inaccuracy of it until this story ends.

Auditorium makes its second appearance in panel three in lieu of actual new art. Shouldn’t the strips current team be docked part of their pay?

    PACING

It was Oct.18, 2008, and Baces was still standing around, “talking” about getting “revenge on Genesis corporation … he, and his gang (with robot Magnum Force) had been “TALKING” about It ad infinitum since Since Sept.05, more than 7 weeks of verbal repetition. I commented on this inordinate delay, only to me slammed by Mattie for failing to appreciate or even understand that Locher was brilliantly building SUSPENSE.

It was really breathtaking, I’d never seen the proceedure stretched out so long before. In fact, I found I’d passed through immpatience into “annoyance” waiting (near half the story) for “something to happen” … ANYTHING ! Other than just standing around and talking”.

My bats were up in the belfry.

Then, I remembered Tracy’s recent long unprodutive Circus stand and wondered if Mattie would now add this questionable technique to his budding comic strips ?

He seemed to like it so !

Locher han taught him a lot to get to the top, but he had also included a lot of bleeep

DT can’t understand why he and Tess are so close to the stage, I can Dt will be able to see what goes wrong when something happens at the concert to help his investigation, although I don’t enevy the ears the music will be loud. Dt won’t be able to fall asleep in his chair being up close. A few years ago I and my husband with to Branson and went to a restuarant where this older couple gave us tickets to see a concert we had not planed to see totally enjoyed the show. We where not expecting this older couple to do this they had to leave that morning and missed one show due to health.

It almost has to be his part. If it were his bow, he would just borrow the bow from the lowest violin in the pecking order. It wouldn’t be as good, probably, but few would notice. Things will not go well when your first violinist doesn’t know the score. (Hee hee.) But you know, I’ll bet that’s not it.

I am going to give the boys some time to develop an interesting story and refrain from snarky comments for a little while, and just count the number of times the concert hall exterior is shown for a while.

    2 so far.

    False suspense again. :(

Dick is afraid if he sits too close to the stage he’ll be deafened. You know how loud those long-hair musicians are….

One of my father’s friends mentioned listening to long-hair music once. I thought he was talking about rock & roll, and we had a confused conversation for a while…. That was about 1965.

If we were to accept the false suspense and try to guess what’s missing … The conductor wouldn’t have the 1st violinist’s violin or bow, and he wouldn’t have his score either, and even if his score was missing he could look on with any of the rest of the 1st violin section. The conductor’s son couldn’t have stolen everybody’s scores right before the concert; they all take them home to practice.

Maybe Jack Cobb never performs without his lucky Pig On Wheels in his pocket, and the conductor borrowed it for good luck in his IRS audit, and then his son borrowed it for his trip to Vegas and didn’t bring it back in time for the concert. Egad! Whatever shall we do?!

Whoa – there was actual new information (plot or visual) in every panel today.

SLOW DOWN, SPEEDY McINAHURRY! I was all settled in for another couple weeks of “long hair music” and “I want it back” dialogue!

Q: What’s the difference between a violin and a fiddle?

A: You carry a violin in a case and a fiddle in a flour sack.

I think the kid stole Jack Cobb’s blunderbuss. Therefore, he will have to improvise with regards to making a Funny Dead Duck fall out of the air.

The two worst building exteriors I’ve seen in DT are Jack’s Casino (at the end of the World with those stubby hi-heel steps), and now this confusing geometric bullding that looks like someting I drew at five years old, and lost in Naperville !
