Love that name, but what were his parents thinking? And the lady is named “Sister”? Slim will conclude she’s a nun. The only habit she’ll have will surely be a bad one.
axe-grinder, the “sister” actually is Pastor Peacegood! As for why she got the name Warren, I can only rely on Johnny Cash’s song “A Boy Named Sue” as well as Riki Turofsky’s complaint-heavy bio-blurb.
(I actually read the now-65-years-old Turofsky’s bio-blurb in 1982; she complained that she had been named “Riki” due to her parents already having decided the child would be male and picking out “Ricky” for the name. Another complaint she had was that her mum–who totally lacked fashion sense–decided to dress her and her five-years-older dissimilar sister Carol alike, which meant that Riki invariably wound up getting two atrocious sets of clothes)
prasrinivara, we should know by tomorrow a.m. if your theory is correct! As for the story of Riki Turofsky having the same awful clothes style in her wardrobe twice, that’s the kind of quirky detail that makes a biography interesting.
The joy for us fans is we see how Slim is going to get into another mess and we are curious to see how he will get out of it. This reminds me of the classic Dick Moores story when Slim encountered that larcenous, elderly couple. I’ll bet ten to one, Clovia will have to save him–again!

Of course, ANYONE could mistake Upton O Goode (get it?) for Rev. Peacegood…

Well, of COURSE Slim will encounter these two and assume they’re the Rev and his companion. Because Slim’s an idiot.
I could have sworn the GA Garage’s tow truck was in better shape than that.

Paul1963, on your “I could have sworn the GA Garage’s tow truck was in better shape than that”, remember that Slim is the one who has been driving it.
