Text messaging must have been created by the illiterate. I can’t make sense of it.

As just one counter-example, until about WWII the usual spellings were to-day, to-night, and to-morrow. Sometimes you’ll see them in newspaper headlines on History Channel documentaries.

Ah, but that’s not English — that’s TeenSpeak! (And yes, my 25 year old nephew uses it when he e-mails me. The sad part being, he teaches ENGLISH in Peru! Too bad he can’t WRITE in English…)

I like spell checker to. Makes me decide on right word. Text messages have to be brief you pay for those words.

Kids today can’t spell at all thanks to text messaging. And what’s worse, teachers leave the bad spelling stand as is when they’re grading tests or homework. Not all teachers, some are good about that, but I’ve seen a lot that just let it go!

Geography might change—but not too fast. History won’t change so much as get some added stories. Literature won’t change even that much.

To use spell check properly, you have to at least be literate. I just read today’s strip where Joe expounds to the class on what scool taught him this year- very interesting but …(ala Artie J from the old comedy show). And peace- out amigos- past my bedtime!
