They’re trying so hard.

It’s a Date. Greg is just playing games. They will be more then friends.

Definitely well tweaked! Of course, maybe they should just accept the truth and get on with life!

Hey c’mon. She HAS to play cat and mouse games cos Greg plans to keep her 16 forever. We can probably expect a bit of teen romance, but not for Quill to hang around for all the remaining years of the strip.Brad and Toni are a little older, and Greg has invested a lot of time in depicting the growth of their relationship.I’m sure by now he’s realised his fans would be very disappointed if they didn’t stay together.I don’t think he wants his teen characters to become similarly tied down.Silly high school crushes and clumsy romantic fumbling are at the heart of this strip.

I’d say, Quinn is in DEEP -do-do!

Hey Quill, played so cool and like a true gentleman. You allowed her the room to move without feeling pressured either way. Well done and keep up the good work, mate.
Chuck373 over 13 years ago
Looking at the comments, I believe that their failure to take a chance on romance irritates more people than the ones who think it’s cute or sweet.
Chuck373 over 13 years ago
It’s like watching “It’s a Wonderful Life”. The old man tells George to kiss her already and stop talking her to death. He follows up with “Good advice is wasted on young people.”

Wow, Cowboys and Aliens looks really bad!

Let’s not forget that a while back they both agreed that they don’t want to date because Quill will be going back home and that they didn’t want the complication of a breakup/long distance relationship. So this is them both trying very hard to stick to the agreement while not completely denying the obvious attraction for each other. In a way, they are finding the loophole in their agreement.

Okay, while I don’t analyze this strip on a daily basis and memorize every detail, didn’t these two agree not to date so that when Quill goes back to Australia, no one’s feelings get hurt? But they are so attracted to each other that they want to date? So this is their way of seeing each other without specifically dating. To me, it’s playing with fire because they will get emotionally involved, but that’s the fun of it.

Aw shucks – they’re just funnin’ each other. Don’t get all bent out of shape. They’re more in touch with each other than we give them credit for. Yeah, there is romantic tension, but they are not ready to be serious – not like Brad & Toni. In a way they are like Knute & Crystal, but L&Q have more history. K&N are just getting started. Gunther & Rosa may never get to first base.

And I was even more naive and stupider. I like to think that’s because I’m more highly evolved…neoteny seems to have gotten more and more prolonged as the human race’s brain power increased.

how about “let’s save water together and…..”
Wolfdreamer250 over 13 years ago
Talk about a walkabout.chuck373 – Remember Luann and Quill are both 16, which technically means they can’t watch R rated movies. Yeah I know teens watch R rated movies. I did. But then if Greg Evans said an R rated movie, like Bad Teacher, he would probably get a ton of mail saying he was promoting violence why would he want that. Besides, who wouldn’t want to see cowboys vs. Aliens. Throw in some ninjas its a perfect movie.

They’re enjoying this! They know very well what each other is saying (and not saying!) Plus they get to go on a date without “really” committing to a deeper relationship. They’re teenagers and don’t want to grow up yet.

Elwood and Luann 4-EVER! We all know that Elwood would kick Quill’s butt….if he could kick that high! LOL
Dconskjk over 13 years ago
Can they do that? Do an “ad” about a movie in a comic strip?
wiselad over 13 years ago
I am surprised they did not go to see Captain America, and when i said “date” I implied that they avoiding the concept of “going on a date by one of them asking the other to go on a date”
pennington2 over 13 years ago
I really enjoyed today’s strip . . . . it time tested technique in storytelling - Gable and Lombard, Tracy and Hepburn, Bogart and Bacall - and current TV shows (Beckett and Castle, Bones and Booth) . . . and NOW in comicdom we have Luann and Quill!!! I was actually surprised to find that none of the fans of this strip have started writing stories about this group on the fanfiction pages!

So what happens when Brad and Toni get married, and Luann is still trying to figure out HOW to date??

And they called it puppy love. . .

Luann’s problem is that she’s afraid because of having fallen for Aaron so hard and then he not only moved back to Hawaii but met a girl there. She’s sure that’ll happen again when Quill moves back to Australia.

My prediction, at the movie they meet Gunther and Rosa on a real date.
doverdan over 13 years ago
.Luann had that date with Miguel, look how that turned out..On the other hand, she had a date with Aaron, and he didn’t even kiss her, which devastated her and made Nancy furious.

“wanna save gas together” is not my idea of the most romantic offer – so does that definitely prove it can’t be a date??
RinaFarina over 13 years ago
but what’s wrong with game-playing when both are enjoying it and both seem to know exactly what’s happening? it’s when one thinks it’s serious that can lead to disaster …but actually in this case it is serious…

I used to go visit a “friend” most weekends, and we’d do all the “date” things together, especially when we ended up back at her place. But she’d insist, “This is NOT a date, you are NOT my BF,” That was when I first learned the phrase, “friends with benefits”…
