The original RRH had brain damage. It’s possible to damage your brain so that you don’t recognize familiar people anymore.

Last night Grandma saw a wolf in her nightgown.What it was doing in her nightgown she’ll never know…..

Surprised she didn’t yell “JACOB!!!” given her obvious youth.

I guess people in those days wore the same smelly clothes every day since they were named after their outfits: red riding hood, mr yellow shirt, etc.

I wondered, even when a child, how RRH could be so dense as to be fooled by the wolf. Although we know that lighting was very inadequate in antiquity (and perhaps she was seriously nearsighted as well)
