Adam: So this is it? Clayton: This is what? Adam: The twilight of your summer vacation. Clayton: Whatevs. Adam: The days grow short and the shadows long. I remember when I was your age. A feeling of dread with each tear of the calendar page. Clayton: You seem to take in odd pleasure in this. Adam: No pleasure. Just a bit sentimental for my youth, I guess. Every September I still get pangs about wanting to go back to school. To do things differently. Clayton: But if you did things differently. You might not have been here with me...or mom or any of us. Adam: What you lack in height. You make up for in smarts.

Clayton must’ve got those “smarts” from Laura’s side of the family as evidenced by the fact that Adam’s about to take one in the chops!

And that’s why you should always wear a face mask when playing Lacrosse!

I got the best of both. By day I’m a kid, coaching neighborhood kids in basketball. By night I’m a paramedic & firefighter, doing serious mature work. Balance is good. Still like being a kid better.

Nice to see Lacrosse (Canada’s 3rd national sport) in a comic. It was invented in Canada by the Natives. Also … Basketball was invented in Canada too!

Poignant father-son moment reminds me of a poignant song:Oh, it’s a long, long while from May to DecemberBut the days grow short when you reach SeptemberWhen the autumn weather turns the leaves to flameOne hasn’t got time for the waiting game
Oh, the days dwindle down to a precious fewSeptember, NovemberAnd these few precious days I’ll spend with youThese precious days I’ll spend with you

Whether you’re a kid or an adult, summer zooms by and the long cold winter days start all over again.
