Lynn sure as perfected the ’woman’s evil stare’ … even in her drawing.Every time I see a face that is NOT just ‘smile’ or ‘meh’… I am amazed by her artistry.
So, from what I can gather from john abrams juvenile postings today, he thinks that women would only work if they don’t have a husband who can support them, and even then they’d probably sit around doing nothing anyway. I would further conclude that john’s mother stayed at home doing a stellar job raising him to feel superior, and that she didn’t have the brains to want to do anything else other than serve her husband and clearly perfect son (when she wasn’t sitting on her butt).
One must remember, when reading this comic that it was originally published in the late 70s or early 80s, put it into context before you jump to conclusions. Back in a time when it was possible to have only one parent working and one at home. We no longer live in a society where that is possible. He has a hard time calling it a job because she is not getting paid for it and it’s actually costing the family for her to do this work due to childcare costs. :)

@JazzyBella you can live on one income, if you live within your means. It’s tough but it can be done.

We’ve come a loooong way from the 1950’s domestic housewife. Women have talents they need to share with others.

prrdh: America extends from Ellsmere Island to Tierra del Fuego. Only US and branch-plant Canadians restrict it to the USA.
