Make sure to tell Mean Gene that fermented soybeans are a great source of probiotics! (Thanks, Wikipedia!)

Hee hee! Love that Frazz-gags face. A little Calvin-esque. And, acquired taste taking on a new definition for the school lunchroom, hilarious!Way to use the old bean, Caulfield!

I have been saying all along that Frazz is Calvin all grown up. Look at the two of them side by side. Think about it, Calvin would know all the things Caufield would do, ‘cause he did them himself. Although Moe wouldn’t have known what to do with Natto.

Monday’s lunch: stinkfruit, sardines and that “gamey” meat that A. Zimmerman tasted in Morroco.

I think Andy Zimmern is the guy who eats anything except durian. Maybe that should join natto in Caulfield’s lunch sack.

I love natto! And I’m a little disappointed that Frazz doesn’t.

Natto is often acquired in my house. After years I can tolerate its presence but still don’t like to eat it. If it were an emergency and I had plenty of spicy mustard I can manage to get it down.

Mean Gene probably would smell the natto ahead of time and say, “Keep it.”

Caufield should try uni (Japanese sea urchin roe) tomorrow.

Yo, Natto is the most disgusting thing man has ever designed to eat. I don’t know how the Japanese eat that stuff.

Natto is one of the most divine things that the Gods have ever condescended to confer upon man. Yum.

I think that Caulfield should bring a boiled duck egg for Mean Gene to eat and let him find out the hard way that it’s a balut: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Balut_%28egg%29

Natto is one of those things you either love or hate. I had the occaision to try it in Japan at a revolving sushi shop, and found it more than palatable. Far better than, say…Banana pudding, for example.

One man’s disgusting is another man’s delicacy.

Bullies aren’t funny! If a kid known as ‘Mean Gene’ is terrorizing the playground, why aren’t the adults doing something about it? Stealing a kid’s lunch is,.. well, stealing and that’s a punishable offense. Why is the bully allowed to do that?

It’s a fermented soybean dish from Japan and has a very strong taste and smell. I’d probably just fix something more conventional but “spike” it with a healthy, but well concealed, spot of either ghost chili paste or wasabi.

Natto mixed with rice, hot mustard, and a raw egg is pretty tolerable, and ridiculously healthy.
