Gunther looks good; Rosa looks better! And she’s giving him prompts every time he stumbles over an um; perhaps soon with her help he’ll be able to speak coherently.

Ah. So Gunther went the conservative route with the buttoned long sleeve and a tie. A little bit too dressy for a movie, but better than all those crazy outfits from yesterday. Hopefully they will go to a ritzy restaurant after the movie to make Gunther’s fashion choice worthwhile. AND he is on a date! Finally.

I was hoping to see Gunther meet Rosa father.

Actually Luann has grown up a lot in the past year or so. Been nice to see. At any rate, these are all people who interact with her and affect her life. Gunthar is her friend, and if he’s unhappy, she’ll know it. I’m actually pleased that it isn’t MEMEMEMEMEME anymore, but that she’s learning empathy and respect for others.

Sometimes you really get a clear awareness of which characters that Greg has a deeper affection for. (It aint’ all of ’em!)There may well be still 37,834 ways that Gunther can stuff this up, but he has landed a real treat and it is about time that this genuinely sweet but klutzy character has some pay off.Simultaneously, with just a few economical and deft lines, he has imbued Rosa with the sweetest details in the strip. So, there is cartoon affection from the artist towards both Rosa and Gunther. And his final comment is charmingly witty. Whatever happens next is not so important.Nice wrap-up for the week.

Wow, my son went on a date wearing a t-shirt. Still, it worked inasmuch as they are now dating. I’m having a hard time imagining a high school kid actually wearing a tie for anything less than prom or homecoming.

Wow! I know it’s only a cartoon, but I would enjoy the view, too.

Way to go Gunther and so nice to see the old fashioned take to this respect and getting dressed up is not bad. I remember when you got all dressed up to go the store in town.

30 Comments already at 7AM Phoenix time, so most points have been made. I agree with many (especially Otto’s) that he is dressed very nicely for a movie- like kids did in an earlier time. At least he looks like himself and a colored dress shirt works even if they go out to dinner later. Rosa always looks well dressed.

I also enjoy most of the characters here (the villans annoy me).

Yeah, so you’ve said, many times.

I’m Mormon too. For church meetings woman are supposed to wear nice church dresses and guys are supposed to wear a nice (usually white) shirt, as well as a nice tie, jacket, and pants. This outfit is also required for missionary work, it’s a way of showing respect for the lord. When not on church business We are free to wear whatever we like as long as it is modest and appropriate.

You cut and paste this comment every few days. Point has been made, please say something new, why don’t you. And I never heard of 7th Heaven.

Greg has a wonderful way of drawing women. Very easy on the eye.

In the sixties, the only time people wore a suit was for (1) a wedding, (2) a job interview, and (3) a funeral. Can’t think of anything else.

And she doesn’t scare him by taking his hand (I think he might faint dead away). As far as I can tell, she just briefly brushes the back of his hand with the back of her hand.

What empathy she has! What a pleasure to read!

Did they ever metion who got the part from Tiffany’s audition?

Rosa knows a good thing…Gunther will probably start getting into shape, and patent a clothing line, and live happily ever after. Ahhh life is good in a comic book way.

Notice that Rosa was using negative terms expecting Gunther to be terrified and awkward. When Gunther finally speaks his own word it is a word of joy…like pinch me I must be dreaming Im at the movies with a beautiful girl joy. Our Gunther is growing up.

Even I have forgotten what it was I agree with and don’t want to go back and look for it. Gunther looks great and I hope Rosa realizes that his last comment means he very much enjoys being with her. I also agree with whoever said that they enjoy all the characters except the villains. After reading the strip a while, we know and are fond of all the main characters and want to know what’s going on in their lives. It would be boring if everything had to directly involve Luann. But that is not a criticism of her character which, like all of us, has its strengths and weaknesses. She is modeled after Greg’s daughter so he isn’t going to kill her off. Such suggestions seem to me to be terribly insulting and insensitive.

Hi All:I asked this a few times but noone answered yet. I am still wondering whatever happened with Tiffany’s audition. Last Saturdays strip ended with Tiffany trying to get the name of the one who got the part and this past weeks strip was about Gunther going out on his dream date. I still am wondering if the audition story will ever be concluded or will it end whit the cliffhanger. Thanks

I agree, there are getting to be too many characters! They all need to grow, especially Brad with his girl. It would be interesting if Luann who find a boy friend!
