@Lance Dencalian:It’s a bathrobe. And, despite the popular assumption, dropping in a pattern does mean less work or beating a deadline. It’s actually an extra task. And what is there to see that’s been obscured? Roy’s manly physique? I drew the bathrobe and left it blank for the B&W version that we send newspapers. If I had, as you suggest, “run out of time,” I would not have bothered adding the pattern. Maybe not every experiment works, but I like to try things to liven up the art and give it extra texture.
The ‘pattern without folds’ is an old cartoon trick. It’s abstract, of course, but it’s just a reminder that there are many ways to represent an object pictorially. Some animators even use it, with the pattern remaining stationary even as the figure moves.
The Tardis is more real to Roy than other objects in the room, including his bathrobe. Not that he doesn’t like his robe. It’s just not a reference point for him.
I see ‘The Enterprise’ has been demoted to the second shelf and obscured while The TARDIS remains “Top Shelf”. Also ‘Next Gen’ posters have come down I’m not reading too much into this am I?

Ahm… no offense, but… the use of textures on Roy’s blanket (jacket? can’t see a thing) is not the hottest idea for a drawing pro. Run out of time? :-p

Just say Roy’s plaid is much more intelligent than most plaid and changes itself to match regardless of how he sits. It IS Roy…

I hate plaid. So I didn’t really look at it until I read the comments.

Is that Roy talking, or is it coming from inside the Tardis? I imagine the Doctor is quite good at WoW!

Roy’s learned to throw his voice, and he’s making it come from within the Tardis. And for his next trick…

Interesting how everything but Tardis has a “flat” color. Tardis, however, is shaded into dimensionality. Is that a visual pun?
