Looks like Nancy was trying to get Brad to declare her the number one woman in his life even at a young age. No wonder Toni finds getting along with her uphill work!

    Pass the syrup, Jocasta.

Love how Brad’s attention wanders from Toni to pancakes. Thus, history repeats itself.

And Brad’s first love was pancakes. Fortunately, he’s really matured, so know he’s into Fried Chicken and Waffles.

I think it is significant that Toni even brought up the M word. If Brad had just kept his mouth shut at the end, it wold have gotten Toni to thinking.

They already look like old married folks – Toni has her legs crossed in a direction away from Brad and is turned slightly away with arms folded or dropped to her side. Brad’s looking around for something better and they’re talking about lack of happiness in marriage. WHERE’S THE PASSION? Next thing you know Brad will want a hot dog and they’ll be back at WW. An eyeful! Oh, how waffle! THAT’S where the passion is.

I have read numerous surveys that said that married men were happier than single men, but single women were happier than married women. Reason? Women do a lot of work inside a marriage (emotional & otherwise), to the benefit of the husband. They cook, clean, etc. for him, also provide emotional support. Men don’t find it easy to make real friends. Women have had a lot of practice at this, so, unmarried, they are not as lonely as men would be.

Also, single women are happier than married women because of all that (generally unappreciated) work they don’t have to do.

I knew from a young age that marriage wasn’t for me. As society becomes more open, more people are choosing to remain single. Maybe someday the media will realize this and portray singles in a positive light.

So true! Unless you’ve tried both sides of the fence, how can you possibly determine what side makes you “happier”? Sheesh, if today’s “study” even exists outside Greg’s need for a hook, it’s utter BS.

What always makes me crazy are people who have kids who tell everyone else that unless they have a child, they’ll never know “true happiness”. Other than “condescending” the other phrase that really comes to mind is “Misery loves company”.

Men keep things simple. Women can complicate any situation. And they seem to take a great deal of pleasure in doing so.

He isn’t stupid. Brad discovered years ago that no matter what you say or do, at some stage you will upset the woman you are closest to. May as well be honest and love them and what they do in any case. This is why men typically get puzzled by the “you take me for granted” statement, but men don’t use it even though they honestly believe they are doing the right thing – even doing a fair share of the housework.

I genuinely be believe that the road to happiness is gratitude. When you are thankful for what you have, and not moaning over what you don’t have your perspective changes dramatically.

Legs crossed away (doesn’t wish to include person) , arms crossed (doesn’t want to hear the other side), and says being married would not make you any happier than if you were single equals breakup.

Their body language suggests that this is an awkward conversation for Toni. At least she’s getting it out in the open. Brad means well, and at the end of the day, that’s what really matters. They’ll be ok.This is a rare Sunday strip. Usually, Sunday is just about some cute, trivial matter with no relation to the story arcs.

to @tegm:> If married people are so happy, then why is there such a high divorce rate?We could also say if single people are so happy, why is there such a high marriage rate? I think the trend is that people in general are getting a sense of entitlement, and don’t know how to set reasonable expectations. No matter where I am, if 75% of the things go right, I count myself ahead of the game.
