Hmm… That’s interesting. The Sunday on Comics Kingdom is different. It is the one Shane submitted. This one is altered a bit. I guess you can pick the one you like better.
About John Zacherley in yesterday’s comments. He played a horror movie host named Roland on a local Philly station in the late 1950s. I guess that was before he moved to NYC. He kept his wife in a coffin. She was called “My Dear.” My brother and I visited the set. “Good night, whatever you are!” was his closing line.
Svengoolie: Sven (Rich Koz) is Chicago’s currently active horror host, with a slowly growing national network (reportedly covering about 63% of the nation right now). He’s been at it for about 30 years, having started as “Son of Svengoolie” to replace the original Svengoolie (Jerry G. Bishop).Abner Kadaver is a great homage to the genre.
My first studio was in Nashville … 1967 – 1976. During that time the local horror movie host was Sir. Cecil Creep (Cecil was pronounced Sess-el). The studio I did art and design for a poster and a couple of print ads for his late night show. Anyone else remember him?
Well this year is the 80th Anniversary of the Dick Tracy comic strip. A strip, often in the past distinguished by it’s legion of unique Rogues. It’s been a sort of tradition on the more important ones to bring back visual remindres of the more memorable ones.
To clarify, I am NOT talking about the layout of the panels, but the alteration of the coloring around the projected image of Dr. Mean Green. The panel sizes are designed to be laid out in different ways, so that they can be published in 2,3,or 4 rows, and still align properly. That is not what surprised me.
I recall a cable channel 43 out of Cleveland w/ a Saturday show with someone named SuperHost (wore a ‘Superman’ Outfit and red clown nose.) …..Still miss Chiller Theatre and “Chilly Billy” Cardille who was the TV reporter in “Night of the Living Dead”.

This is beginning to remind me of a Locher storyline. I’m not complaining, though.

They killed Mike Curtis, those bustards!

Will Tracy have to save Mike Curtis? I for one can’t wait to find out. Would be nice payback since Mike saved Tracy!

Baron Clovis.. I see what you did there. I love it…. but wait, does that make Vera the pastiche of our Mr. Staton?

Thank you, Sysiphos, for the update on Sven…I remember him fondly back in the ’70’s on the old channel 48 in Philly.

This is a great storyline, compared to a year ago at this time when it took 5 months to make an overnight prison transfer!
