bikenboatn about 13 years ago
She’s perfectly happy dishing it out, but it will be interesting to see her response now that she’s on the receiving end.

Hiring TJ is the dumbest thing you’ve ever done, Ann.

LOL @ TJ! In the last panel, he touches her and calls her Ann, AGAIN!! /// I wonder if the customers he’s spotted are Brad & Toni or Luann and her gang?
legaleagle48 about 13 years ago
Funny how he’s able to push her buttons after only knowing her for about five minutes. Go TJ!
ComicLaff about 13 years ago
TJ is getting to smart-aleck. He’s taking quite a chance.

My money is so on TJ.

Like selling ice cream to a eskimo
ZacBSM about 13 years ago
Double standards here big time. Ann was touching Brad all the time, and Toni, too, on the chin, and she is now saying “do not touch me.” It is safe to say she is not into TJ, but that doesn’t bother TJ none. He will just give Ann a dose of her own medicine. Go, dish it out, TJ! You rock at it.
DockoftheBay about 13 years ago
You always have the power when you don’t give a damn and Ann will soon be under his thumb.
DockoftheBay about 13 years ago
When TJ has his sights set, it’ll be the taming of the shrew.
DaJellyBelly about 13 years ago
It’s easy. A customer asks for a hot dog. You ask back, that’s a foot-long right? Or, do you want Chili and Cheese on that? When they order a drink, you ask, the jumbo drink ? When I worked the concession stand at the movies. We were encouraged to up-sell the larger sizes of soda and popcorn!
Chuck373 about 13 years ago
Hah! He was able to break all three rules before she was done saying them.
Sisyphos about 13 years ago
This is fun! I think I’ll watch to see the outcome!
Rockabore about 13 years ago
Woah, Ann’s body in panel two looks like a very little girl with a very big head.
oregontransplant about 13 years ago
it would be great to not care about the job youre doingjust to see how much you could get away with
Angelalex242 about 13 years ago
Mwahhaahhaa. I am quickly regaining respect for TJ. The trick is to give him the right job. Once in his proper role, he kicks serious tail.
Rakkav about 13 years ago
And that might actually be best for them both. Otherwise, Ann, you are SO doomed. :)))
tinabee1967 about 13 years ago
He is taking the foul wind right out of her sails. This is going to be too good to stay away from!!
unique_ness26 about 13 years ago
I love how he touched her and called her Ann, two seconds after she told him not to. Love this strip.

“The Taming of the Shrew” starring TJ as “Petruchio” and
Ann Eiffel as “Katharina”.

It is kind of hard to bully an employee who really doesn’t care.
Talker123 about 13 years ago
Now you see me, now you don’t. By the way, he is still touching her.
Nuki255 about 13 years ago
This might be the arc that actually makes TJ likable again. This is hilarious. He’s not even perturbed by her posturing. I foresee many lolz during this arc.

karma is a bitch, ann.
Mongo about 13 years ago
Hiring TJ will probably be the LAST thing you do in this job, Ann.
sarge112751 about 13 years ago
T.J.‘s ability to ’upsell’ will draw Corporates attention to a higher profit margin, and they’ HAVE to ask Annie – “WHAT or WHO happened to cause this, and WHY didn’t YOU do it SOONER?” .I don’t think it’ll be T.J. packing HIS ‘bags’ !
griffon8 about 13 years ago

ArtCreator about 13 years ago
I think it’s funny how in the first panel she seems okay with it, but then she puts the rules straight, then she looks surprised TJ stood up to her.
Doctor11 about 13 years ago
Keep it up, TJ, keep it up.
imbaldeagle about 13 years ago
Great – TJ! A trifecta! Ignore her no touch, her no Ann, and override her demand for respect by interrupting her! Her demands are like water off a duck’s back. He’s lovin’ it and she’s seething.
Loki Laufeyson about 13 years ago
He could do it by suggesting sides, upgrading drink sizes, etc. BTW, Rok— I suspect that I know you from another board. Ever been to Troll Valhalla? Just curious!
Airman about 13 years ago
Love it. The “point of no return”….“High Noon”……Will Ann fire him or fall for him?
Chuck373 about 13 years ago
The look on her face in the first panel is priceless. She appears to be accessing his qualities. Slick and Smooth come to mind. In the next 2 panels she attempts to reassert her dominance. Had this not been a work situation, I think she may have assumed a more submissive posture.
Robert Mason about 13 years ago
I love it. T.J. finally putting his swarminess to good use.

lance96816 about 13 years ago
In this light and bantering. Ann could become a regular. Just like Tiff and Crystal. A constant deaf ear, I could forsee maybe tj not being a manager, but more like using Ann as a sidekick, like garfield and jon.
w2lj about 13 years ago
I go to some fast food places, I see the managers in the trenches with the troops. Somehow, I doubt that Ann would ever set finger to the French fryer.
Dragongirl2319 about 13 years ago
Oh, this is great!
FFmike about 13 years ago
Somebody a while back mentioned TJ possibly being a major share holder of WW. This would be a really good twist if he was here now as a secret boss, like on the tv reality show. Then Ann gets called away to a meeting with corporate unaware that when she enters the room, TJ is sitting along side other suits at the table. That would be awesome to see the expression on her face.
Happy, happy, happy!!! Premium Member about 13 years ago
hes good. in his own twisted egotistical sick way.
lance96816 about 13 years ago
In that last panel, I almost get the impression of Ann being a little girl, but im the boss and you have to do what I say. I can see her stomping her feet and thowing a tantrum.
TexTech about 13 years ago
TJ may well be able to upsell. The power of suggestion is pretty amazing. In the dark ages, I once pumped gas at a real honest to goodness service station. You ask if they want to “fill it up with premium” and sometime that two gallon purchase turns into a full tank or they decide to upgrade this time from the cheap stuff to the premium. I saw it work in my experience. I am sure TJ and his smooth moves will move a lot of extras.

Since when has TJ ever actually needed a job, anyway. This is purely for his own entertainment.

I can see it now: New Year’s Eve…..Ann and TJ, with Ann happy for the first time in her life and something to look forward to. And then, down the line, Brad and Toni as the Godparents.

I enjoy seeing TJ in the potential “hero” role here!
imbaldeagle about 13 years ago
So who are the customers – somebody we know – or strangers? I’d bet we know them: The teachers? Mrs. Horner? Frank & Nancy Degroot?.Or the youngsters – Gunther & Rosa? Quill & Luann? Luann & girls? Tiffany & Crystal? Crystal & Knute? Forget Brad & Toni for they are still upset with Ann unless…. curiosity killed the cat.

Poor Ann, she has absolutely no idea that she has no power in this situation. I almost feel sorry for her… NOT!

mojitobaby about 13 years ago
Yeah, because hot dogs are so much like prime rib, he’ll be able to work miracles! /end sarcasm. Come on, guys, think about it. It’s Weenie Word. You can only do so much with that menu and the food that corporate sends you. Most of the stuff in fast food franchises today is either precooked and/or flash-frozen, and unless he can whip up a really special sauce from condiments, it doesn’t lend itself to tweaking.
Tim Pickard Premium Member about 13 years ago
Poor poor Ann. She hasn’t learned what 90% of management types never seems to learn, and that is “YOU CAN’T DEMAND RESPECT, YOU HAVE TO EARN IT”. TJ will drive her crazy if she doesn’t learn that basic fact.
Professional Rookie about 13 years ago
LOLz! This strip is fantastic! I still stick by my prediction that they get engaged.
Mrs. Peabody about 13 years ago
Not true, but everyone still believes it. My junior high school social sciences teacher even told us that story about subliminal ads in movies as an example of social manipulation.

For the number of time we’ve all wanted to do something like this the corporate etc. Go TJ go!.

franklyspeaking about 13 years ago
Money talks and TJ knows how to make it speak. Corporate won’t care about Ann’s complaints when they see sales increasing.
Fusnr about 13 years ago
it isn’t even tomorrow yet and people have him fired already.

The unstoppable TJ on the rampage. This is going to be fun!
tharain about 13 years ago
Oh, this is going to be good.
Kirk Sinclair about 13 years ago
Ann was hot for Brad because he fit the mold of someone she could totally control and manipulate, and seduce, on her own terms – this feeling of power and control turns her on. TJ’s a whole different animal.
Agent__Jones about 13 years ago
Ok
mojitobaby about 13 years ago
Oh, so very this.
And the same thing’s going on in reverse, here. All the people who are expecting some Taming of the Shrew scenario need to revisit the play because a basic dynamic is missing. TJ has no interest in Ann either sexually or monetarily – he gets off on control and manipulation as much as Ann does, and he knows he can get payback for Brad and Toni. He can amuse himself mightily because he’ll deliver the sales that she wants, and she’ll have to let him walk all over her because if she fires him she’ll lose those numbers.
falcon_370f about 13 years ago
I love how TJ just shrugs off Ann. As I’ve said a conflict between two identically mischievious and coniving personalities is bound to get interesting. His ability to shrug that off rather than be bruised like Brad is really going to get her steamed. Then she’ll fire TJ, he’ll take the case to WW corporate and give Ann a ride in Brad’s shoes (i.e. unemployed in bear market).
FifiFromOmaha about 13 years ago
Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!! This is gonna be fun!
Mongo Wildman about 13 years ago
Looks like the start of another romance…
mojitobaby about 13 years ago
Come on, name me one hot dog place that DOESN’T have a chili dog on the menu – that’s not exactly a novel idea like the French Poodle or the Siberian Husky. Chili fries are to die for, too. But that’s scarcely "fine dining – "and “gourmet chef” or not, that was my point. TJ’s planning to upsell, because he probably wouldn’t be able to revise the menu beyond the toppings that WW has already.
vldazzle about 13 years ago
I enjoy hearing how personal experiences of others relate to the strips. At one of my workplaces we all related SO closely to Dilbert’s boss that those toons were constantly posed around the office in series. It was an engineering consulting firm and it DID ultimately fail totally due to that boss (and the former junior partner who “retired” is still working at another firm).
sjsczurek about 13 years ago
TJ is going to knock her off her high horse – you might say he’s done that already – and she’s going to come crawling back for more, again and again. Watch and see.
Tinyman about 13 years ago
@IbbearMyybe he should call here "Your Hinie instead “Your Hiness”
Ginispics about 13 years ago
TJ always seems to know just what to do..and how to make it really work…he is a good friend to Brad, and we are just getting to know him.
He is going to be the one that really puts the brakes on Ann and her boy-toy games. this is really going to be good!!

Why is it that a strong woman is always portrayed as a b*tch? If a guy acted the way she’s acting it wouldn’t be seen as bad.
