Does Gordon Ramsey admit to being European? We were so glad when he left UK shores and we really don’t want him back. Only leftist, one-world socialists (not all UK socialists) would call themselves European. We’re British, then English, Scottish, Irish or Welsh with Cornish and assorted other islanders thrown in.
Just need to get Sir Dudley here to give him a nice swift kick in the… oh wait, wrong comic strip :DI hope Ramsay’s makeover doesn’t turn Mythtickle into Garfield 2.0!
I’d stop reading until this character left, but then I wouldn’t know when to resume reading… He is, however, one bit of modern “culture” that I could quite happily do without.
Okay, somebody has to play devil’s advocate here…Kitchen Nightmares is as hokey and unreal as any “reality” show. But if there’s even a shred of truth in it, then Gordon Ramsey takes on some incredibly mediocre, self-deluded, self-destructive restaurant owners and chefs, and usually turns them around — with a substantial investment of his own time and money, at that. (And some of them manage to fail anyway later on; he’s not a miracle worker.).Surprisingly, when he isn’t being a loud, foul-mouthed, arrogant tool — which is his personal shtick, after all, as a world-class chef and restaurateur — he can be sensitive and gently supporting when necessary..I don’t go for many reality shows, but this one works. (If you can stand Gordon Ramsey at all, of course.)
BTW, Justin has absolutely nailed Gordon Ramsey, including his speech pattern and body language. Kudos! (Could it be that GR has Tourette’s? I’ve never seen anybody gesticulate so wildly while talking.)
Well, I guess there is a story to be told here and a point to be made. But it begs the question- WHY would one allow a creature like that in their space?
If GR spoke to me like that he would not only get an earful of words that would make a sailor blush, but a right hook into that foul-mouthed kisser of his.
We can all use a bit of help now and then, but I would see GR more as a source of MORE problems rather than help. The door is right over there. USE IT.“El Jefe cartoonista” strikes me as confident and competent, so submission to GR’s terrorizing looks out of character.
I absolutely get Gordon, and think this strip is hilarious! He for sure can be an asshole, but as PSHAW remarked earlier, he can also be very sensitive and supportive.
It took me until this strip to realize that Al Jaffe from MAD Magazine might be a play on El Jefe. Though what he’s “In Chief” about I still don’t know.

Um, Mr. Ramsay? THIS knight can erase you from history, er, I mean Mythtory. Hmm, that actually sounds kind of nice…

What’s a Gordon Ramsey? Is that from Anglo-Saxon mythology or something?
