Luann by Greg Evans and Karen Evans for December 29, 2011
Transcript:
Luann: "I didn't get anything I wanted for Christmas" Bernice: "Now, THAT is a bad attitude, Luann. You should be thankful for what you HAVE - friends, family, good health..." Luann: "But those aren't presents. I'm talking about presents" Bernice: "Right! That's exactly what's wrong with Christmas nowadays. It's all about getting stuff" Bernice: "I want this, I want that, I didn't get this, I really wanted that..." Luann: "Did you get what you wanted?" Bernice: "HA! NOT EVEN CLOSE"

So glad my kids aren’t like this. We furnished Christmas to the plumber. Had two water leaks and a gas leak. all a week apart. ended up with three plumber trips at eighty bux an hour. so that’s how we spent Christmas. My boys felt that a safe and warm Christmas for me was the best gift ever. I got oldest son and his wife warm bathrobes and warm sox. Youngest son got a subscription to blockbuster so he can order games and/or movies. he’s gonna love it. My gift was I didn’t die in the gas leak that broke at night.

Looks like Greg is a Mac person. The font he used is “Chicago,” one of the system fonts for the Mac OS at the beginning.

They both need a gratitude journal!

Christmas gifts are never good enough, never numerous enough, never what we want. But we are glad to get them, nonetheless.

I must have missed something, is Greg going the same route as “For better or worse” and start his strip over? That is what destroyed that strip and if this is what we have to look forward to, strips from the past, then why read. He had an interesting strip, albeit a little flaky as far as storyines went. Now this. I hope it is just for the Hoiidays, I’ll check back in a few months. Tis a shame though.

anyone check twitter. all these teens are griping that their parents didn’t get them iphone, the wrong color iphone, a car, and an ipad. a lot of them seem to be from new jersey.yet, it would seem that every teen generation says that they didn’t get what they want for christmas.

Check Greg’s Facebook Page; He’s been busy with blog and archives while on Christmas hiatus. Everyone deserves a break even if it serves just to let us know how we miss them.

I like being reminded about Luann as a kid.

I’m reminded of a great old Peanuts cartoon in which Lucy is complaining to Charlie Brown that she didn’t get what she wanted for Christmas.
“All I got was new dress, new shoes, and a bunch of stupid toys!”
What did you REALLY want?" Charlie Brown asks, perplexed.
Lucy’s answer, “Real estate.”

Hey, I just checked out Petey & The Pack and it’s very good. And better than many of the current “mainstream” comics, too. Good luck with it :-)

If it’s really important to you, you can probably be first here (when this was originally published).

I didn’t exactly get what I wanted for Christmas, but I got great stuff from my family, and I don’t ever complain since I can always buy the things I need if I have to.

They’re being typical teenagers, so be nice.

The next time we see Puddles on a current strip he should be getting a gray muzzle. He is after all at least 56 dog years old.

I got what I wanted for Christmas. My Mother came home from the hospital and is still alive. It may not be for much longer, but I cherish every extra day.

I would love to be able to hear, to eat normal food like most people do, & to go back to work.
I’ve not been able to eat food or work in more than 12 years…and my hearing? it comes & goes on a daily basis… :(

I got much more than I wanted;-)A smartphone from my sis (a Huawei-android) and lots of love and hugs from my 2 nieces.

I checked out your strip. It was enjoyable and I added it to my daily list. Good luck with it.

I always appreciate the gifts I get for Christmas and I don’t think I’m the only one. It’s just that the voice of the people who don’t appreciate their gifts is much louder.

Greg is just taking a vacation from the strip for the holidays. Lynn Johnston retired from FBOFW, and restarted it with some tweaks to appease her fans, kinda like the Calvin and Hobbes strips. So keep your undies unbunched. New Luann strips will be back in January.

Started reading your strip over a month ago, or so, and enjoy it. I added it to my line up as soon as I read all the back strips. Also read and added Piggens at the same time, so sad he quit writing already. Hope you are successful and continue to grow and expand your readership. I recommend your strip to others.

I once read this bit of wisdom on a sugar packet:
“If you don’t get what you want, just think of the things that you don’t get that you don’t want.”
