Hello Wally Hello Petey You’re not dead now No indeedy Holly’s living Happy kiddos Now we’re cheering for the scary creepy Dittos! =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum
Perhaps these one are so newly trained they never seen dittos before… or they are just scared because it isn’t every day you see a black pit of eyes and mouths :)
Surstuff 55, I’m going to coming all the way from Australia for Anthrocon. I’m looking forward to meeting Aaron for the first time. I’ve also submitted a request to programming for a combined Endtown/Doc Rat panel as a program item. (Anyone wanting to lend their support to this idea may feel free to write to Programming at Anthrocon 2012.)
Oh good, so the Endtown comic will be in print by mid-June? I’ve been watching Jarlidrium Press’ site for quite some time when I found out they were the publishers for Endtown.
Back to the story-line. We’ve seen dittos appear as PTs before. Though I’m wondering just when they made the switch and just how much they switched.
If the top siders have encountered the Dittos before, they’ll know that they are in an illusion. Firing shots now could result in hitting things they don’t want to.
It’s just a hunch, but I’m willing to go out on a limb and say that, based on their individual reactions, this is the TS’s first encounter with the Dittos. Given what we saw previously with A&G, I doubt they are capable of inflicting physical harm, but man, they can sure mess with your head!
Hmm, on looking at today’s strip again and seeing Ditto-Flask walking out of the transporter, I’m in two minds as to whether this is a ditto replica of the transporter (with the real one containing our heroes hidden somewhere off-stage), or whether it is the actual original one, with our heroes hiding in the back room. I don’t know, but if I had never seen dittos in my life, and I was in the situation of certain capture and death, it would take a lot of argument to persuade me that going into the back of the car and shutting the door would be good enough.I suppose they could have got away with faked deaths, and the Topsiders may have packed up and left after a job well done. But if the dittos do the job I’m hoping, and assuming some live to tell the tale, the blow to Topsider morale will be devastating.
Everyone! Vote for Endtown! Find one of Level Head’s postings, click the blue writing link, and VOTE,VOTE,VOTE. Let’s get Endtown into the top 100 Top Webcomics.(It’s currently ranked at number 128.)
Yesterday I was so enthralled by the story, I actually went back to the beginning and started re-reading it again. I finished 2009 and 2010 and today I hope to read the rest of it. This has gotta be the most interesting comic since the original Alley Oop!
Is it a Ditto-Flask, or Flask covered in dittoes… Where are our heroes… how did the dittoes get there, why are they taking a side… Like all good writers, getting answers (yay they’re not dead) opens up way more questions.
And it says something that we felt Aaron was gusty enough that maybe he can kill off characters. We weren’t sure.
Jenner and Aaron at Anthrocon? Man, maybe I should try to make it there after all. Bring LevelHead and a guitar and we can take over the filk panels. :)

Like some have theorized this group of TSers could be rookies. Anyhoo it’ll be nice to see what the dittos do next. I’m on the edge of my seat and have been since I have began reading this whole series.
And it was about time I registered to aknowledge that. Finally I can comment since I came across Endtown 2 years ago. :D Aaron, thanks so much for bringing this concept to our screens. Thoroughly enjoying this adventure. And I hope you get real better soon. (I heard he was having medical trouble, is this true?)
Stuck with the Dittos of You (with apologies to Gerry Rafferty and Joe Egan) Well, I know just why I came here tonight But I am feeling that something ain’t right I’m so scared, I just fell out of the car And I’m wondering if I’ll get very far Endtown’s to the left of me, robots to the right Here I am, stuck with the dittos of you Yes, I’m stuck with the dittos of you And I’m wondering what it is you will do It’s so hard to see your full-body face And those mouths are just all over the place Endtown’s to the left of me, robots to the right Here I am, stuck with the dittos of you Well, we though that you had nothing And we foiled you Endtowners’ plans And your friends, you’d see them dying We’d slap you on the rack till you say, “Please, please” Trying to make some sense of this dream But I can see that things are not as they seem Where the robot was is ooze on the floor Well, I don’t think that it is anymore Endtown’s to the left of me, robots to the right Here I am, stuck with the dittos of you Well, we had you all surrounded And your pride led you into our trap And your friends, they all were hounded As we took their brains they’d say, ?Please, please? Yeah, I knew just know why we came here tonight But what I’m seeing is giving me fright I’m so scared, I’ve gotta run for the door And I’m wondering where you are any more Endtown’s to the left of me, robots to the right Here I am, stuck with the dittos of you Yes, I’m stuck with the dittos of you Stuck with the dittos of you Here I am, stuck with the dittos of you =|====/ Level Head Vote for Endtown 2.0 And for Doc Rat, too The Endtown Forum
Ya know what ‘s really amazing about this current situation? For ALL the comments given by us fans and followers, the strip itself has had NO dialogue for a full week! Such is the power of Aaron’s art and storytelling. (yea verily!)I’m blown away by this roller coaster ride we’ve been on, and eagerly await the revealing details that will explain how the heck this happened!
For those who are counting: Fri 27 Jan: 56 Comments Mon 30 Jan: 51 Comments Tue 31 Jan: 123 Comments Wed 1 Feb: 111 Comments Thu 2 Feb: 117 Comments Fri 3 Feb: 209 Comments Mon 6 Feb: 157 Comments Tue 7 Feb: 56 Comments (as of 10am CST!) Suffice it to say, it looks like Aaron has certainly hit a chord with this recent story sequence. Excellent story as always.
I am guessing that the topsiders are a bit shocked at their win turning out to be something else entirely. They will probably start shooting pretty soon once they get over the shock.
One has to be wary, leaving an easy out, an illusionist out, can compromise future strips. Everyone will have to remove this illusion ability.Niven has written that he has had the same trouble with Known Space: the cool solution to one problem keeps coming up as the answer to every problem later, making the writing of a problem oriented story hard since you have to eliminate all prior known solutions.
So the dittos pick sides now? Is that mad scientist guy still alive and controlling them? What about the rocket ? are we to believe that too was a ditto or are they still doomed?
What if… what if the dittos are actually doing what they always do, and are treating both sides the same? What if our heroes are in a PT surrounded by ditto TS’s while the real TS’s are attacking a ditto PT and ditto heroes? We did see headlights surrounding our heroes through the PT window. Interesting concept, and it would eliminate the apparent need for communication with the dittos. Will be interesting to watch this play out…
hmm… now here’s a though. while we saw that Petey was able to kill the dittos inside of him, was that actually amesworth based, or was that something else? because it actually looked like electricity, to me. and when Al shot the constructs, was it the weapon fire that caused them to shatter, or were they simply playing, and are really immune to amesworth radiation?
also, although he ditto constructs are hollow shells, we don’t know exactly how strong these shells are. they are nearly weightless, but how strong are they? and more important, is even though they’re just hollow shells, a hollow shell can do considerable damage, if sharpened.
After the downer episodes last week, I like having some hope again. Of course, this is still Endtown where death is a regular occurrence. The presence of these ditto’s doesn’t necessarily mean that our favorite cat and mouse are safe at all. And how did Petey go from being Petey to being a colony of ditto’s?
Apparently the Topsiders weren’t prepared for this sudden change in plans. They’ve gone from strutting and crowing to running and screaming as they realize that they’re royally screwed.
Here in Australia, it’s Wednesday afternoon. The strip flips over at 5pm, in about three hours. Wednesdays are my studio days, so I’m watching the comments on the site periodically as I draw. I don’t suppose we’ll go over the 100 comments, this time.
