Enlarged. I don’t believe Französischer Meister (German for French champion according to Google Translate, which translates the title to Portrait of a young man) is a name so much as a pseudonym or title. But again not being an art student/connoisseur, I may be wrong about that.
I’ve had hair like that down to my backside at least four times. Let’s have less criticism, please. It never needed curling either. Many’s the time I wished for straight hair.
@mabrndt Franzosischer Meister (French Master) must refer to the painter…not the subject. The title must be either unknown, or something like “Jeune homme aux cheveux incroyables” Looks like a contemporary of Louis XIV. I’d like to know where Steve found this.
History tells us that the “wigs” that although were mostly made from human hair (expensive) that they were rarely washed and contained a waiting crowd of lice, mites, bed bugs, and another itchy creatures. Now that makes me wonder how he could sit so still for this painting for ANY length of time at all.

This will be one of those embarrassing pictures that his mom always shows everyone. You don’t think he did all that to his OWN hair, do you?

Nowadays the only guy who could get away with hair like that is that football player in the shampoo commercials.
