And you can have this fine commemorative copy of this genuine gold coin, clad in 14 milligrams of .999 pure gold, for your very own! The original release price was scheduled to be $50, but for a limited time only, it can be yours for only $19,95, plus shipping and handling. (translation: You’re blowing about thirty bucks to buy a relatively worthless slug that might bring you a buck or two at auction as a novelty in 50 years).

@Baslim the beggar — You’d think Otto would be warmer, but only because you can’t see that Auggie’s armor is lined with polar fleece.

If you’ve got them you may as well decorate them…..or get a friend (or Faberge) to do it.

A 2 for 1 sale. Mr. Melcher published the first 5/19/10 (enlargement available from here), and the second 7/4/10 (only enlargement I found of him is what you see if you click that image), in his blog. Neither the image here nor here can be enlarged. One says it was painted in the 17th century and other the 18th. He died in 1572, long before this was painted. One wonders about the authenticity.

Ambrose Bierce: “Armor – the kind of clothing worn by one whose tailor is a blacksmith”. Hard to top that!In these 2 cases, I think the armorer’s skills far exceed those of the painter. It’s a much more difficult medium…

And Bon Scott is famous for his big balls.

I’m not sure, but I think Otto’s sceptre is longer.

I play a courtier at the court of Holy Roman Emperor Fredrich the II. He had the most fun court with the best foods and indoor plumbing and wonderful collections of birds (falcons and hawks for hunting) and parrots etc for amusement (including a talking umbrella cockatoo like the one on my coat of arms who was my soulmate of over 20 years). The personna I invented was an English lady at his court because her father was one of his jewelers, who instructed those who cared for and taught the parrots. I also like to play in the jewelry arts;-)

Fourth, of the at least 16 works (for whatever reason, this is no longer in the list; perhaps others won’t be in the future), with no attribution, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here. Here is another work without artist attribution. This was missing from the count there, here, and here.
