I liked Sugar Puffs, sort of like Kix but bigger. I liked Sugar Crisp too. I think that is what they were called, puffed wheat with sugar. Now—I bought a box of Raisin Bran—it gave my head a sugar spin and I didn’t even add extra sugar. I am going to write to them.
And I was one of those moms who either cooked oatmeal, or made french toast (from scratch) or a batch of scrambled eggs with toast and juice. They always enjoyed breakfast.
Dr. Toon: If it ends in -ose, it’s a sugar: sucrose. dextrose, levulose, fructose, etc. Like -ol is an alcohol: ethanol, methanol, isopropanol, etc. All of these have different numbers and arrangements of elements in their compound. Plus some contaminants that creep in before, during, or after processing. There are differences.
Get a life people it is a comic strip. It makes fun of life. Kids will eat the marshmallows and leave the cereal. IT IS FUNNY. If you have a problem with this please never read the Far Side.
They were Sugar Crisp back in the day; then they changed the name to Super Golden Crisp when sugar got a bad rep. But nothing compared to Calvin’s Chocolate Frosted Sugar Bombs.
When I was a kid we had “Sugar Pops” & “Sugar Smacks” !They don’t call them that any more because it is obvious thatparents don’t like to see the word “sugar” on anything they feed their kids. I still call them by their original name and always will.
To be honest with you, i didn’t even like Lucky Charms. Alpha Bits, Honeycomb and Captain Crunch were my favorites – and nothing with chocolate in it. I wouldn’t eat it.

Not really. If you look at the sugar from cane vs. the sugar from fruit, your body processes it differently.

I’m sure she means well and wants to make Nelson happy, but I’d rather buy my kids a small toy or a book rather than feed them unhealthy food.

I liked “Maypo” and "Ovaltine drink..
There are quite a few youtube videos of old
cereal commercials featuring Sugar Bear(sounding
like Bing Crosby) and Maypo(I Want MY MAYPO!) from
the 1960’s and 1970’s..Oh..and remember the Kellogs
variety pack of little boxes that had perforations to
open and you just poured milk right in the box?…

I remember having shredded wheat a few times when I was a kid, but our normal breakfast on the farm was sausage, eggs and biscuits.
