Enlarged image of this oil on panel painting of the artist’s wife (Metgen) 2 clicks from here. So far, only work by this artist to appear in Mr. Melcher’s blog.
My apology for repeating that it’s the artist’s wife in my post. On average it takes me about an hour to assemble the information, and yours wasn’t there when I started. I should have refreshed my screen before posting; instead, I just posted it and went to bed.
She is probably thinking of all the work awaiting while she wastes time posing in uncomfortable clothes. Her face in the enlargement looks a little softer (troubled, but not angry). I have a photo of myself going down the aisle at daughter’s #1 wedding with a similar expression (not sure if it was because of the usher assigned to me or her choice of husband (too long ago)
I wouldn’t deduce too much from the forehead. In some periods – when intelligence in women was considred sexy – women shaved their forheads to look like they had larger brains. I think Manhanz is the mot juste.
I also said that enlargement shows a softer expression (which is true and Marge must have seen that as well). BTW if you can see it, my expression in this avatar (daughter’s first wedding) was also a bit dour. I think I wanted to march with my BF.

The Duchess is wishing that the painter would hurry the heck up. The little dog is whining and starting to to do his potty wiggle.
