And it took me a couple of times watching those scissors cutting the panties (Oh, be quiet!) to realize that they start as a big ol’ knife. Vlad must have reclaimed it. Anyway, tell that reckless young lady to be careful with sharp things.

Re; FB yesterday, a blacksmith doesn’t wear a leather apron, they wear leather chaps that strap around the leg. They spend a lot of time bent over under horses with one of the horses’ legs between their protected legs, so the bottom of the horses hoof is facing them. If the horse moves and their foot gets jerked out from between the blacksmith’s legs then they are protected from nails sticking out of the sides of the feet and such.

re: picture of the “Alton Giant”. what is up with the child? did Vlad have something to do with the missing 0.5 of the left arm?

I don’t know that the infernal device shown on the blog (“Soldiers”) is. A mortar, perhaps?

What I do want to know is why it has a Twins logo on the barrel!

Re HELENA PEREZ GARCIA: I would like to go on record as stating that wolves get a bad rap.

Re the missing arm in the Wadlow photo: Must have come from a newspaper’s photo collection. Very common in this era to perform crude surgery with paint to fix a composition. Child’s arm was painted over so photo could be cropped into a vertical showing only mom & son, without having part of the kid’s body peeking out on the left side.
