My baby, Wooden Pinto Bean, was a week-old kitten when found taped up in a box and left in the K-Mart parking lot. I’ve raised bottle babies before, so no biggie….but, now that he’s grown, he still crawls in my lap and sucks his ‘thumb.’ Precious!!!
I’ll also mention that when we took her to the vet for her initial checkup so we could let her in the house with the other cats, she was spayed. She wasn’t fully grown when she showed up. While it’s hard to imagine anyone getting a cat spayed and then dumping her (we see a bit of cat dumping* living out in the country) we’ll never know if she was a stray or dumped.*one poor thing was so skinny, I wasn’t sure it’d live overnight so I could take it to a no kill shelter yet it wanted attention from me before it would eat.
God bless each and every one of you who has saved/rescued a poor ‘throw away’! Ashburn, Larry, Rise22, you all are awesome. Larry, thanks for sharing the pic! Amy is adorable!
A handsome young yellow tabby showed up on our front porch last Friday and is still hanging around. I call him Romeo because 1) he’s just “roaming” the neighborhood and 2) he has fallen in love with my little girl kitty who he can see through the screen door. Squeaky loves the attention from him and the little hussy has been making goo-goo eyes at him. Her big brothers Buddy and Jack aren’t at all impressed with him since he’s so much smaller than them.
I love everyone’s stories. I have “rescued” 4 ferals and one declawed/neutered “throw away.” I TNR the ferals in my area to prevent overpopulation at my own expense. 2 were near death at the time of rescue & are both fine now. The throw away was attacked by a wild animal because he couldnt defend himself. After $500 in medical care/rehab- he is fine & living with the clan. We live in the country also. Dumping a pet is unfortunately commonplace. People suck.
My cat was in a cage at the local chain pet store.Nobody would adopt her because she couldn’t get along with other cats. The organization from which I adopted her is Catcall. The biggest challenge is keeping her weight down, she can put away some FF medleys and premium brand dried food.

I found our current feline friend while on a New Year morning walk 2 yrs ago, ergo we named her January (Jani for short); she was maybe 4wks old, malnourished and dehydrated, hunkered down at the edge of the sidewalk…I wasn’t sure she could survive but, wow, did she fool us…now full of vim & vigor, hijinks by the dozens; the boon of my life but the bane of my existence

Is Kliban’s cat celebrating Garfield’s birthday this month? My birthday is this month – so I celebrate with Garfield. Hmmm – pizza or lasagna?

Your cat was probably riding on top of a car at the time.

I have a cat who likes to sit on pizza boxes – even when they’re not empty. THat’s why I have to keep the lid down.
