Frazz by Jef Mallett for July 02, 2012
Transcript:
Girl: Summer's theme: Reruns. Of the same old stuff that wasn't that good in the first place. Frazz: That's why I train and race instead of watching TV. Girl: Your training and racing is what I'm talking about. Frazz: This year I'm not getting injured, and I'm not whining about it when I do.

I can’t imagine Frazz whining about anything.

Richard, yeah, if I’m honest, that’s the way I feel too. Run? With nobody chasing you?

I hope he isn’t training here in Georgia. We are having 100+ degree weather down here.

65 & raining here in England – thermals may be needed for the Olympics!
Maybe nobody now thinks of sports as being fun, and are too hooked on performance goals, even if that does lead to injuries?

And what the heck is Frazz doing?

It’s very challenging to fit exercise into my day with 108º weather, but fortunately, there is an indoor running track fairly close by.

Gator & Bdaysuit: Aren’t you glad global warming is just a myth dreamed up by environmentalists to save the planet. We lost a red oak, pine, and a very productive crabapple to last summer’s drought. If it is a day or a week, it is weather; if it is several years, it is climate.

Are there still reruns? OK, sure sitcoms that get syndicated. But not a TV season being rerun after it’s initial run. I think they got rid of that around the last season of X Files. I expected to catch the last few episodes in reruns but they never aired again.

And she’s saying Frazz isn’t that “…good in the first place.”

I’m sure most cyclists in your area always obey street rules, are considerate of others on the road, and in every way mythically perfect. Cyclists in my area are generally rude, obnoxious, and act as if the road belongs to themselves, then whine about how many drivers try to run them off the road. Usually, any accident involving a motor vehicle and a bicyclist is due to the unthinking actions of the bicyclist. Which is the reason why motor vehicle drivers must be extra vigilant near popular biking areas.

Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if I never rode on a velodrome. Different is all I can come up with.

Had a good time, stayed as strong as I reasonably could for as long as I could without being a jock-jerk totally. Maybe it was avoiding “trainers”, doing it…except for some great times in Airborne and SF and some kind martial arts masters…on my own.
I’m not much into competition. If you’re living your own life, there really isn’t any.

Played my first game of bicycle polo. I’m 64. Blocked a goal shot and almost made a goal.

And not have her witnessing it when you do whine about your injuries.
