When they have shows about this on the Science or Discovery channel, they play creepy or very dramatic music, to heighten the dramatic tension. As if it will happen next week.
Tom and Jim: Yep. Only Greens are concerned and they are attacked for it – when the corporate media permits them to be mentioned at all. Even a progressive like Rachel Maddow has mentioned them only once. I bet there was a dilly of an inter-office memo from General Electric after that one time.
The Four Pillars define Greens throughout the world. They are attacked for Environmental Responsibility, but no one ever mentions Grassroots Democracy, Economic Justice, or Nonviolence – might leave the Republicrats with nothing but trolls. For that matter, Sen. Sanders is not permitted to identify his party – Socialist – for fear the public might start learning about that party and stop using the Soviet definition.
Look both ways before you cross the street. If you don’t look both ways someone will most likely get hurt. It is regrettable for anybody to get hurt. It is just soooooooo unfortunate that only those who do not look both ways before crossing the street are not the only one getting hurt. Do the reasonable thing!!! Prov 24:11-12, Is 1:18. It was stated by a founding father that the only way to maintain a constitutional republic is with an educated citizenry. To paraphrase Ben Franklin, “As soon as the electorate realizes they can vote themselves the public treasury it will signal the end of the republic.”
Earl is doing what many seniors, corporations, countries, and politicians do everyday. They kick the environmental can down the road, assuming that they won’t be around when the world- goes-to-hell-in-a-handbucket.
Scott Adams once wrote that all of our problems result from the human brain having stopped evolving about the time of the invention of the spear. Back then, a reasonable person’s time horizon was the next meal, and a spear only required knowing which was the pointy end…and that’s the brain we’re trying to use now on every long-term political, social, technological, and environmental problem we have. Right: we’re screwed.
I’m idly curious where Crane got that number. The sun’s loss of mass due to nuclear fusion is around 4 million tons per second, so it loses 360 million tons in about a minute and a half.
Magicwalnut: He ran on that ticket when he was mayor of Burlington, he has claimed the party occasionally when he has been on programs progressive enough not to bleep the comment, so I assume he still is. He just can’t run for or hold national office under that banner, and I can’t find out why. Being in Texas, I have to find a surrogate senator to represent me, and he is it, even though not of my party.

Sanders is a socialist? Wow! I wonder if there’s any way I could get away with voting for him twice?
