See? this is another example of how badly the B.C comic strip has lost its way. Greece and the Euro don’t come into being for at least another 10,000 years. The capitol of the B.C. comix used to be CLAMS. We miss you, Johnny!!
According to Fowler’s Modern English Usage, CapitAl should be distinguished from CapitOl The former being the most important town or city of a country or region. The latter being a building in which an American legislative body meets, the best known of which is in Washington DC. This means that Washington DC is a Capital containing a Capitol.
There are also the additional meanings of Capital punishment (death by execution) and of wealth as a potential investment.
The pun in the strip is correct. Robert Briggs and ‘hsawlrae’ are incorrect.
‘B.C’. is itself an anachronism as people living Before Christ were, mostly (apart from the Jewish prophets), unaware of that fact. The strip is a fantasy world ‘uunkoke’.
Poor Greece…country of eleven million with lots of expensive real estate(yum) gets persuaded by skunks currently working for the IMF to PUT ON THE OLYMPICS…!! And by the time they “built, bought, borrowed” enough to do THAT…(try to remember, you dim dolt) they were ready for the banksters to kill the rest of their economy and TAKE their heirlooms of democracy’s beginnings…
And it appears you’ve all bought it. Read up on LIBOR…they’ve screwed YOU too, and quite a bit.Of course you LOVE your Fox, currently explaining to the FBI about those phonehacks of democratic congressmen and blackmail…
Why has no one came up with the answer yet – Athens.(Get out a globe or world map and notice how many national capitals are practically within walking distance of 40 degrees North Lat.)

Men and women didn’t live in caves in prehistoric Middle East either. They lived in tents.
