Hudson’s? LOL! There haven’t been a Hudson’s since 2001 when they became Marshall Fields and even they became Macy’s! I feel for him, if my mother tried to drag me to the store to do back-to-school shopping, I’d hope to die of boredom too!

Oh Jef… where have you been? Hudsons? It does bring back some nostalgia though. Thinking back to the time when parents could just write a note to them saying that it was ok if their kids used their credit card for a purchase.. Like that would fly today. Ha.

Thank you all for explaining this one. It’s not as funny, but at least I get where it came from. This kid is too cerebral for me sometimes.

I could pass that coke on for Caulfield. I see Asclepius every day.In the form of plants named after him…Asclepias tuberosa, butterfly weed:Asclepias incarnata, swamp milkweed

Really, Caulfield? Boredom is one of the worst ways to die.

There’s still a store around here called Hudson’s Treasure Hunt, they’re a close out store.

They all get bought out, even Nieman-Marcus, which at least has kept their name. Ultimately, we will have only one department store – and we know how well GUM worked in the Soviet Union!

In case you haven’t read Plato’s Phaedo lately, the point is that Socrates took a moment out of dying to mention that he owed a cock (rooster) to Aesclepius.

Yes, boredom has to be one of the worst ways to go.I remember too well many mind numbing trips to the department store; even my over-active imagination couldn’t save me from the onslaught of soul-sucking merchandizing and endless banks of florescent lighting.

In California, we lost Bullock’s, Broadway, Robinson’s, and May Company to Macy’s. Of course, Robinson’s and May Co. had become Robinsons-May with ads full of wedding cakes a few years before. Now I shop from catalogs (print or online) to find style, color, and size to suit me.
