Phoebe and Her Unicorn by Dana Simpson for July 26, 2012
Transcript:
Marigold: One who has beheld a unicorn, only to feel rejected, can become quite dangerous indeed. So, next month I have to let Dakota ride me into her birthday party. Phoebe: Oh, but I'M not invited, is that it? Marigold: You ARE invited. Phoebe: How come I have to go? Marigold: I am detecting ambivalence.

“I didn’t want to GO, I just wanted to be invited.” Makes sense to me. :)

Remember that the SHIELD OF BORINGNESS will be up: They won’t see her as being that extraordinary.

The best way to get kids to stop caring about a party is by telling them they have to go :D

I went back and reread some old ones about the origin of what the Shield of Boringness means, but I still don’t get what being “bored” means here. something to do with being bored and using your imagination to get “unbored?”

In Douglas Adams “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy” series, he described an invisibility device called an “S.E.P. (Somebody Else’s Problem) field”. It makes whatever projects it something that you don’t have to notice.

boring much better. People CAN’T see what’s right under their noses after they’ve blanked out the boring. The ordinary gets checked on every so often..Better than camouflage! using a human’s own brain waves to divert attention away. Shield message to brain = I’m boreing. Brain to itself = Object is boring, check. Brain to nervous system = blank boring object out.
