…..and Wall Street and the right intend to keep it that way. They “built it”, right? Of the rich, by the rich, for the rich. Of course, as Rmoney has told us, that’s just envy on our part for there to be any criticism of their insatiable greed.
And you blame that all on the “boomers”? The people writting all those grate books on how to succeed in business without really trying, or those MBA’s who only know one method to improve a company, ie. cutting costs. It’s those evial boomers who lost a third of their retirement, lost their homes and were riped of by the system the last few years. But it’s all their fault.
@Nab@Michael FelkinsNab, thanks for your thoughtful post.Mike, the only way to have avoided the stock market fiasco is to never have invested in stocks at all. Personally, have never had a cent invested with the thieves, but not because of any smarts on my part.Around ‘78 was watching the 6 o’clock News on CBS. Oil companies were lying about “oil shortages” and channel 2 in NYC sent their traffic helicopter out over the refineries in Elizabeth,N.J. and filmed 13 full-loaded tankers anchored offshore, and showed this at 6 P.M. in NYC!There were tankers anchored offshore up and down the East Coast, and channel 2 decided to check this out locally.Tankers couldn’t pump the oil off because storage tanks on shore were full, but oil companies were lying through their teeth about a "shortage’.Thought all hell would break loose with the revelation, but shortly thereafter, there was no further mention of a shortage, no action taken in D.C. and not even a slap on the wrist anywhere.Vowed to never invest a cent in Wall Street thereafter, thank God.Really feel for the many people who have been crushed by our distinguished “business leaders”
who cares who did what, if more people would take ‘personal’ responsiblity and stop blaming everything on others things would get better. Sure did boomers contribute to the problem? yes, did hippie’s, yes…did every generation since then yes…but that has happened with every generation before, now days everything bad that ever happens is always someone’s fault.
At work, home whatever if someone wants to blame me fine, it doesn’t change anything. I’ll take responsiblity for anything anyone wants to blame on me, I’ll say the stock market crash is my fault, whatever…it doesn’t change it, just take responsbility and move on.
Can’t!!!!! All the jobs went to China. Since slick Willie gave China “most favored nation” trade status. That was when all could here that big sucking sound as our jobs were flushed away.
The “drug damaged hippie protesters” didn’t listen to their parents, what makes you think that their children listen to them? The protesters do have a point … how can you keep your family together with a roof over their heads when 2 breadwinners have lost their 40-60k a year jobs? 2 people working minimum wage can’t even rent a 2 bedroom apartment, buy food and transportation to work. Many breadwinners in the lower middle class have been laid off and can not find anything that will allow them to bring home 70% of what they had.
I remember Nixon recognizing Red China and toasting with the party members (Nixon was a red hater from waay back) Slick Willie didn’t do us any favors, either. We bailed out GM so that they could team up with the Red Chinese government and build new plants there. When are the people going to wake up? The US government wants most of the people to have the same standard of living as the rest of the world.
