This is explain why I get missile and launcher last Christmas. I was wondering, because I ask for t-shirt and socks. What should I do with those missile?
It’s “If his nose WERE any higher (the subjunctive mood is required here because it’s a contrary-to-fact situation), he’d DROWN (there’s no such word as ‘drownd.’”) Yes, I’m a Grammar Nazi — what of it?
@ Dukedoug and artybee, there is more than a lack of familiarity with grammar wrong with someone who uses a cartoon site to make political comments. I doubt that any of us can fix it.
Why doesn’t Santa “deliver” missiles to those on his “naughty” list (and I use the word “deliver” in the present launch tense…no apostrophes required)?
Dear Calvin, the original Santa Claus (St. Nicolas of Ancyra) gave needed gifts—specifically, dowries to three poor sisters so they could get married. Sounds like your socks and shirt are right in line with the original intent.
Punctuation seems to be a problem for all people regardless of political stripe. For instance, should I have put a comma after people and before regardless?
Totally agree, leagleagle and sharuniboy seem to be comparing the size of their… brains, no one cares how smart they think they are. For god’s sake leagleagle is a former telemarketer turned “paraleagal”, with the huge brain they’re packing you would think they went to law school (which in itself is no measure of intellegence). No one bother to point out any spelling or puncuation mistakes in my comment… don’t care anyways.
I really hope I used the word comma and not apostrophe in my response to your comment. If I did use the wrong word please forgive an old neo-facist. (That’s a joke.)
Incompetency is by no means limited to charitable organizations – consider how well most governments are run….they also give a little back but take most of it for themselves….“Thou shalt not steal”, “Thou shalt not covet what belongs to thy neighbors”….
Calvin’s gone from putting Santa on the defensive regarding cheap elf labor to downright insulting him by telling him to “get with the program” when it comes to gift giving! How does Calvin think this is going to put even one single thing on his wish list underneath his Christmas tree this year?!? To avoid nothing but a lump of coal, it would probably be best to rethink yet again this particular letter to Santa!

He sounds very competent to me, Calvin. You’re not getting one this year either.

Sounds like somebody needs to learn the difference between a “wish list” and an “order form”.

@dukedoug
I’m curious why he/she thinks that was a negative comment. I guess some people just look for negativity. (Not to be confused with Nativity) :-)

GOOD Idea!! I was just thinking this past weekend that I needed a Jeff Dunham (the other white meat) fix.

Sorry Calvin – just because he doesn’t deliver exactly what you ask for, that doesn’t mean he’s incompetent. ;)

I like how Calvin holds up the paper with his writing and examines it. Watterson is a storytelling genius.

@rv77ax send it to Calvin’s house! He said that they live at the E on United States, can’t be hard to find!

Yep, they could be. If they only would think about what the apostrophe is suppose to do, maybe they would get it…or not.

I can tell you: no one ordered socks and a shirt.
