Long family trips where the haunting questions remain long after the trip is through like “Who’s idea was this anyway?” and “Why did we stop here?”

12 acres?! I hope Peter and Madeline don’t hope to browse the entire inventory at Big Tom’s. Petey may expire in the van, and Alice will be noisily disappointed at the lack of French fries.

Is Madeline shopping for Grandma? This totally looks like her kind of place.

“Just for a minute.” Ha!

Ha, I say!

I’ll be counting the seconds.

Disastrous end to a disastrous trip. Perfect.

12 ACRES!! That’s a lot of gnomes.

If Alice got out and looked carefully (around the entire 12 acres) I’ll bet she’d find something that she absolutely has to have for Christmas…

I just bought all the Cul de Sac books they could order in my local book story. sigh I’m going to miss this strip.

When we were on trips, my father loved to stop at farmstands. Once, he got a great deal on a bushel of RIPE apples. He found room for them in the back of the station wagon. at least garden gnomes don"t smell>

Alice should love 12 acres of lawn ornaments. She might find a really big fountain.

And they’ll buy a gnarly gnome and place it under Petey’s window, where it will lurk in the weeds to torment him all night long…

give the kids some hammers and Big Tom will be real happy.

We have an upscale one of these, called Jackalope, where you can buy giant buddhas and ganesh statues, or tiny plants. Also, they still have some odd food and cat dolls made out of real fur.

I’m going to miss Alice the most. I think I was pretty close to being Alice when I was a child.
