She will say, “I hate the Yankees,” because she’s a Red Sox fan. Just Fox twisting the words.

Can anyone with a really long memory (and one better than mine) figure out how much older than Rick Joanie is? No way are they the same age.

I’ll have a look at the 40 year book when I get home, but I suspect the issue is that Joanie and Rick won’t have aged prior to the 1984 break, but JJ (as a child) probably did. However, Wikipedia says she described herself as born in 1938 – look for the article that is just about her.

It’s amazing how many people think they know what’s going on, but actually have no idea. There seem to be Americans who think that Harvard reserves a seat in their law school for a member of a particular tribe of Native American. Are they really that gullible?

Actually, the phrases “I hate America” and “I hate the Yankees” are equivalent ideas in Central and South America! They see Americans as Yankees! Hedley just has his audiences mixed up.

I can understand why someone making say, half a million a year and higher would support the Republicans. I can understand why a fundamentalist Christian would because they’ve had their hopes raised for a theocracy and end of church-state separation. But why any working person, women, minority would think the party of Reagan-Bush-Limbaugh will represent their best interests is beyond my comprehension, given the assumptioin that they’re rational, reasoning human beings. However, for those of you who think that the Republicans will represent your best interests, here’s your new Pledge of Allegiance to learn (next panel):

I would say that I can’t wait to hear how Faux Noise spins the DNC this week. But that would be a lie. I’m sick of the whole thing and sick of the pundits. The only bright spots last week ( and I imagine this week, as well. ) were The Daily Show and Colbert Report. This country needs more political satire. Where are the Capitol Steps or Jibber Jabber when we need them ?

This has got to be better than last week. At the RNC, the speeches were not that good and the tone was basically mean. You know who won’t be at the DNC? Osama Bin Laden. Maybe they should have an empty chair with his name on it. Looking forward to seeing both Warren and Castro as well as the Prez and Veep. At least we still have an auto industry and we are making some steps forward on health care. If the GOP had had their way, our auto industry would have gone bankrupt as Rmoney advocated and who knows what would happen with health care? Maybe Rmoney would go back to the plan he had as governor, but probably not, since he goes with whatever is politically convenient for him.

“This election is about the quality and effectiveness of Barack Obama.”Yes . . . out of necessity . . . that definitely was the strategic intention of the Romney campaign. Unfortunately they keep getting diverted by their record of vulture capitalism, possible felony tax evasion, excuses for “legitimate” rape, old men ranting at furniture, etc, etc.

United we stand, divided we fall! Has America forgotten that simple fact? When we have a democratic president isn’t it the responsibility of the opposing party to put differences aside and work together for the betterment of all? McConnell’s “our goal is to make Obama a one term president” is treasonous at worse and disastrous at best.

The Republicans have the can-do, take no prisoners, get-results attitude. They’re goal oriented, and devil take the hindmost. The Democrats stand more on principle (though not entirely!) and will have to succeed by standing up for what they believe in, and expressing this to the American people. When it comes down to it, though, this could turn into a slugfest. Obama, and the Clintons, have shown they can slug if they need to. If the president plays well and plays hard, he can prevail.
