Joe: Why can't anyone running for office ever be honest about what they really stand for and what they intend to do? Candidate: I stand firmly on any divisive issue we can't do anything about to keep you distracted from the fortune I rake in from lobbyists for doing nothing. Joe: Yeesh... I'd never vote for that guy... Bob: Which answers your question.

NOW you sound like a republican, Dad.

Superfast, Superfast, Danae comes in last, but just, in time for politics. NOT!

For all NRA buffs, Barry hated fully automatic weapons, the same as Romney. Except BG never reneged on the comment.

And thanks for saving us from the antichrist one last time, Dad.

Making certain that her run for congress never happens, good call.

free holder, for the record I am very pro-gun, but very anti-NRA.. That anti-American cult advises people that they need guns to shoot at our government.

Wiley, panel two. Nice one. Funniest statement I’ve heard in a while…Were you able to do that with a straight face? Didn’t think so…Anyway, I agree with Kate in that panel….More Katie!!!!!!!………..Um……please……..

there are a very few elected officials that work for the needs of others without reward. but, the rest are attention whores, power hungry, greedy, self-righteous dirtbags.

Yeah, Dad. Love your commentary on our “public servants” today.
Jack Straw about 12 years ago
My politics are quite opposite those of Barry Goldwater, but I had to admire his integrity. He never flinched at getting in the face of his own party when it was called for. He was the one who told Nixon it was all over, and he was furious with the Reagan administration’s behavior during Iran-Contra.

By the way, I actually believe that a lot of good people go into government because they think they can make a positive difference for the good of their communities and their country. It’s just that it takes about 15 minutes to discover that this is impossible. Under our current system, you need LOTS of money if you want to stand a chance at election or re-election. Until that is made unnecessary (and until we get past the sick idea that money is speech), we will never have a government that can actually serve us.

Well, not really… Of course, all of the signers were not of the same mind and some may have harbored thoughts of counter-revolution but the ostensible purpose is there in the wording, “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state…” Those guys had just finished arguing about how they would be able to pay off the debts from the war and one of the most popular ideas going forward was to depend on volunteer militias rather having to pay for a standing army.Of course, both ideas have become rather silly in the modern world where we are paying for the most expensive standing army in the world and a handful of guys armed with deer rifles wouldn’t stand a chance against a Blackhawk helicopter…

Hmm, so “fibbing for the good of the counry” is no vice? Ah, but who would have thought you could build an entire news network around that idea? And call it Fox?

such a wonderful Republican " truth" expressed today. Nothing but lies, lies and lies. Wiley knows how to take Republicanism and expose it for the Fascist Corporate Communism it is. Republicans only know how to steal, cheat, lie, take what is not theirs..
Danae is such a wonderful “character”.

Oooohhhh, sneaky. You know the true about “public servants” today. That was true 100+ years ago, now it’s all give-me pension, healthcare for life and high pay and personal appearance income. Make big show, and pass laws to undermine personal freedoms (undermine the Constitution). Help people? Help themselves to our money and put us in debt is more like it.
Vonne Anton about 12 years ago
Anyone notice that the “public servants” just went on vacation without dealing with 11 important pieces of legislature? Now, if they worked for me (the public they are supposed to be serving)….they’d get their vacation when they get their work done!
Linguist about 12 years ago
Glad Dad didn’t mention the “public servant’s” $174,000. annual salary ( plus perks and donations from “grateful” constituents ). The world has been saved from Congresswoman Danae for a little while longer.

If congressmen really wanted to, they could tell the truth and still rake in the big lobby money. They just need to wear a Nascar style driving suit with all of the sponsors decals. Instead of M&Ms, and KELLOGG, and VIAGRA, it would say, EXXON/MOBIL, and BIG Pharma, or Bank of America.

“that is not ‘paraphrasing’, that is ‘perverting’. Nowhere near the same meaning.”
Actually, both are essentially “The end justifies the means,” so they aren’t that dissimilar.

@WileyYou shouldn’t complain about people politicizing your strip when you provide such great setups, If it weren’t for the comedians the straight men wouldn’t have jobs.

To paraphrase Bill Clinton it depends on what your definition of is is.
Ernest Lemmingway about 12 years ago
@Everyone taking this even remotely seriouslyIt’s a COMIC! Jeez, take a break from reality for a change.
.I agree. In this case lying is not a sin if it discourages Danae’s evil ambitions. We’re already suffering thanks to voters not being able to agree on anything: bad government, voter unrest, and saddest of all, a hanging chad. To paraphrase Red Green.
