Fake flowers are pretty, and mighty convenient! But there’s a feeling that comes from the real thing, that just can’t be beat! Good or bad, you learn and get better… the satisfaction of the real thing that blooms after it’s all said and done….
There was a case where a little girl wanted to hand out invitations to her party to some classmates. The next thing that happened, the school prevented her from giving them out and subsequent events followed (as usual, with parent/school meetings, etc.)… the reason that they forbid it?Because some children might get too hurt at not being invited.– Not everyone can afford, nor have space for, so many kids at one time… Or if some kids are invited now, maybe some could attend one at some other time… or maybe some other thing… but to be honest, there’s a lot of trying to spare our kids from getting even the smallest of “boo-boos”.. before long, they become adults who have to find protection from even those “smallest of boo-boos”…..
I don’t know who saw fake flowers (I have some silk flowers in my décor- in the kitchen valence and in a vase with glass ones) but I see real flowers out the window. I have garlands in my bedroom (just to add more pastel color, and gold metallic ones too). I moved to Phoenix because we DO have real flowers year round (and especially the citrus when those are in bloom). Back in Chicago I usually took $10 from my groceries each week to have a mix of 3 selections from their flower section putting a bouquet on the kitchen table (also used for my computer) and any left in the LR or BR.
Those who know me also know that I’m totally about keeping it real (even about my upcoming facelift); I don’t like having extra skin on my neck.

Remember when you got rewarded for “accomplishing something” instead of rewarded to protect your self esteem?

Giving children praise when getting answers wrong they learn nothing. Ruthie is so right. What happen to earning grades for correct assignments?

They can, but it’ll take a while before the schools catch on.

Yeah. I’m pretty sick of that myself.
