… every time Crank is called into his supervisor’s office for running over a mailbox and the district’s insurance rates go up, or mistreating a student.
Ed thought he had the record broken, but Guinness wouldn’t recognize it because he ran over the same guy’s mailbox 1713 times instead of 1713 different ones.
So, as I understand it, a good school bus driver knocks over mail boxes, torments mothers, runs into cop cars, hits pedestrians in crosswalks, and distributes fentanyl to elementary school children. Did I miss anything?
Yeah, but did Pop ever abandon his kids in the bus while he went to vote? Or constantly use his bus for personal business on the weekends? Don’t sell Ed short on being one of the worst persons allowed near school children.
What purpose does today’s strip serve? It tells me that the character traits which I thought made Crankshaft unique were all instead manifest to an even greater degree within someone else who we never heard of until today and probably will never hear of again. If Crankshaft conducts his job just to try to outdo what someone else has done, that makes Crankshaft less interesting.
If I find Crankshaft’s antics humorous, surely those of Pop Clutch would be even more humorous. This strip itself is telling me so. So where’s Pop Clutch’s strip, then? And why bother with Crankshaft anymore, then?

This “joke” is really old and unfunny. The world is filled with great school bus drivers, and don’t deserve this constant disrespect.

Those bricks are NOT lovingly drawn like Chuckie Ayres used to do. Old poster Double Scooby Side Sandwich would not approve.

This does not make school bus drivers look good. Although there are worse examples in real life.

Pop Clutch sounds like he was such a nice man. Mr. Crankshaft is such a nice man.

If any of this were true, the parents would have long ago decided to drive their kids to school, and these numbskulls would be out of a job.
