Without looking, this is my take on it: it’s a standard of observed results leading to expectations of a particular outcome or outcomes. I am fully prepared to be judged as full of hot air—I’ll look later.
According to dictionary.com: Paradigm, noun: “a set of forms all of which contain a particular element, especially the set of all inflected forms based on a single stem or theme.”
I had heard in college what a paradigm was but it wasn’t until I started working with a group of PhD’s that I came to understand that a paradigm is just a model of how something works. PhD’s love to use complex words to describe simple concepts in an attempt to point out how smart they are and how stupid you must be.
@dry, yes someone suggested that we change avatars today (and this one has my little cutie as well as my heraldry that I painted on an umbrella). I don’t remember where I read it, but just found it boring! I only retain info if it is something I feel is useful).

So… what IS a “paradigm?” (And don’t Google it!)

I know that “Plato thought nature but a spume that plays upon a ghostly paradigm of things” if that helps (it’s Yeats).

I must admit, I’d have to Google. I’ve heard it explained but I could not manage to care enough to remember it.
