    Good morning™, fans!

In case anyone missed it yesterday, this is the article about Mr. Bush that I posted yesterday: https://tulsaworld.com/entertainment/books/bart-bush-fandom-pioneer-and-oklahomas-first-comic-shop-owner-dies/article_e70fc1c0-eeba-11ea-8de4-9f93baa0d97f.html

Since we spent a whole week with Svengoolie that barely advanced the plot, we can at least devote a single Sunday strip to pay our respects to one of the leading figures in Dick Tracy fandom. Isn’t that why we are all here? To share in the fandom? I don’t recall this much, if any, amount of snark when Vista Bill was honored by inclusion in the strip. So what if Mr. Bush wasn’t part of our GoComics comments community — we can at least be civil and respectful. But writing and/or liking a misogynist attack on the way his grieving widow, Barbara, was drawn? Really!? You should be ashamed of yourselves and you owe that woman an apology. I’m furious…

Rest in peace, Mr. Bush. My condolences to Mrs. Bush and the remaining family. Although we never met, a Dick Tracy fan is always part of this family.

My uncle introduced me to Tracy as a young one, and I’ve got a life-long admiration, and enjoyment of the strip. I truely understand what Bart saw in the strip, and also as a life-long comic collector I see nothing wrong with being an adult who still reads the comics. For they are the modern folklore. Much like what my Sioux uncle, (who was also the one who introduced me to Tracy), and my Cherokee Grandmother told me of their tribes when I was equally young.

Nice tribute, unfortunately, given the latest “storylines”, Mr. Bush wasn’t successful in his desire to suggest something akin to the real Dick Tracy. RIP sir.

Condolences, prayers, and best wishes to the family of the late Bart Bush. I was honored to have been invited to OAF Con in 2014 and Bart treated Laura and me like royalty. We had a wonderful weekend in Norman, Oklahoma, and it was such an honor to meet Bart and his fellow “OAF” leaders. Not an “oaf” in the bunch! Bart will be greatly missed.

There are a few strips on GoComics that can get a tribute comic posted within a day or so of the person’s passing. I am unaware of the procedure involved, but it does occur.

A well-deserved tribute to Mr. Bush. I agree the art isn’t flattering of his wife, but I figure Joe was working fast and only had a few pictures of her to work from, whereas Joe probably had a good full-face portrait of him to work from. And I’m sure MIke twisted a few arms of the people in charge to get it inserted. Now, as I’ve said elsewhere, the real question is how this break will affect the storyline. And as the strip suggested, I’m sure he’s talking shop with Chester Gould right now.

My condolences to Mr. Bush’s family. I’d never heard of him before today but it sounds like he was a true an so I hope he and Chester Gould are up there somewhere chatting about Dick Tracy.

I have been wondering if the picture on the wall behind Mr. and Mrs. Bush in panel 3 is supposed to be Warren Beatty in his role as Tracy. Notice the rounded chin and nose; much more like the actor than a drawing of Tracy from the strip. Did Mr. Bush’s collection include memorabilia from the film?

I wonder if “Bart” ever read Comments here. Seems in his later years, after the store, he might have spied on this group and better yet join up and drop some lines now and then.
