Chief Patton can also think of legitimate uses for the drone, but not without realizing the potential for harm that it would have in the wrong hands.
I had forgotten who Hawker Davis was. I had to look it up. He was selling “Magic Dry Cleaner” that didn’t actually work on Flattop’s clothes that were covered in soot and honey from when he was hiding in a chimney.
Memphis, Trans-Lux Cinerama. Movie: “2001 : A Space Odyssey”.I gave it an hour. Walked out because nothing was happening.
Houston, University of St. Thomas, Rothko Chapel. Vast canvases, all black. Nothing going on. Out in 15 minutes.
New York, Off Broadway “Waiting for Godot” directed by Mike Nichols with Robin Williams and Steve Martin as Estragon and Vladimir. Nothing happening. I fall asleep.
I was going to make a crack about seeing what Muggs the dog thinks next, but I’m actually legitimately curious. Would he see the potential for Wooly Mammoth steaks? Would he try to chase Saber-tooth Tigers?
When did Pat Patton become so philosophical? Apparently he’s grown as he climbed the ranks. Sure is different from the near comedy relief he originally was.
I read a couple times in this arc about how people would want to see loved ones again. Why? They couldn’t be hugged, spoken to or anything similar. Unsure why anyone would desire this.
Well, I mean…it has multiple potential uses in the home, if KTel markets it properly. Catch that one crucial episode of MY MOTHER THE CAR you missed five years ago on the rerun channel.
1-CHIEF:There now. I’ve ironed Tracy’s newspaper to perfection. Just the way he likes it…
2-… Time to reminisce about the old days. Ahhh yes, good ol’ Flattop. I remember when you burnt that guy to death because his cleaning product didn’t work. Criminals used to have style. Now it’s just BANG BANG POW POW.
3-… Hmmm. If I have my tailor make these epaulettes a little bigger I can work in another star and if I show up with another star the mayor will have to give me more money. GENIUS!
HEY DOLL, GET MY TAILOR ON THE PHONE!
DOLL: I’M NOT YOUR SECRETARY!
CHIEF:Uppity women these days! Why I remember back when…what was I doing?
I think Flattop set Hawker on fire and put a coat on him so police would think it was FT. Don’t remember him saying he wasn’t there, but memory fades. And yes, Mr. Avenger, my pulse is racing too.
I’ve mentioned it before, but when is the past? A year ago, a minute ago, a microsecond ago? That last one is essentially the present. Think of what some governments could do with up-to-the-second 24/7 surveillance. Freedom from unreasonable searches would go away completely in that case.
Chief Pat Patton is looking good in panel 3! But maybe he is worrying prematurely over “Diet Smith’s Time Travel Device”"—which is, naturally, an erroneous headline (panel 1). The Time Drone is not a time travel device; it merely reconnoiters [unless we have not been told all about it].
The reference to a grisly murder by Flattop (panel 2) is a neat flashback, but I hope we see little or nothing more of him in this story.
Alas, Pat, we all know Smith Industries Security is porous as a sieve. If it were not, how would the Ace of Spades steal the device?!
What alibi? Flattop forced Hawker Davis to exchange clothes with him and it was one of Hawker Davis’ war bonds flying out a window that resulted in the police picking up Flattop’s trail again.

Now that it’s been announced to the world at large, it realistically wouldn’t be Chief Patton’s or Diet Smith’s decision.

I see Chief Patton has the same outlook on Diet Smith’s toy as I do.

Good morning™, grim realizations !
Patton sees squarely, the enormous potential of TD, in both directions. Right now he just wrings his hands and hopes for the best.

Wow! Someone just realized you could solve crimes with this! Never occurred to Tracy when Smith offered him a picture of anything Tracy wanted.

Would information from the time probe be considered evidence admissible in a court of law? This would open up a whole new can of worms.

Good point Chief Patton, makes one wonder where does Diet Smith Industries send its security unit for training?

I also wonder why Diet’s friend Tracy has not voiced the same concerns as the chief. Don’t tell me, he got enchanted by a shiny object with lights.

After all these years, they (MCU) still have a file on Flattop….far out!

A sop for Flattop fans today.Lord knows why Patton remembers this very minor(if gruesome) murder above all else.
And if Diet has “taken every measure”,we’re not going to have much of a story.
