The gangs all here and it looks like Yeti is about to fire! Very interesting speech bubble spread across three panels. Shelley is not afraid to try new things. I like it.
Yeti’s gun is up and then it is down. Looks like the safety is off. Do the three dots mean three shots ? Daisy is conveniently between Rose and Sam which should give her that one hit she needs. Umm who’s minding Ferret ? Tracy is pointing his weapon at either Rose or Yeti.
Yeti is screwed…even tho he didn’t kill anyone in this story (yet) Daisy still has the ace up his sleeve of surrendering to tracy and spilling all he knows about yeti in exchange for a lighter sentence
Mark certainly has an instinct for the flow and pace of a story. His unexpected twists and turns keep the excitement rolling. Mark’s stories have unique characters that will remain with the strip long after Mark’s assignment is finished and interesting plots that keep the criminals and crime stopping at the forefront of the storyline. Sure, his story had a lot of talking heads in the middle but he has made up for it in the home stretch.
The use of a villainess named Rose so soon after another villainess named Rose is unfortunate (roses are also Bribery’s trademark) and indicates that Mark was unaware of current storylines and Mike didn’t bother to tell him (the same goes for Riger’s drone after Diet Smith already invented one that would seem more advanced and futuristic). A guest writer cannot be expected to learn an entire 90-year-old canon in order to write a 4 week story but were he to begin writing more stories, I would suggest he learn some of the history of what has happened and is happening in the strip. While the writing was excellent, the editing here seemed slipshod and did no favors for Mark’s writing.
All in all, Mark’s writing was and is a refreshing change of pace to some of the rushed endings and illogical plot points we have suffered through in the recent past. Shelley’s artwork was impressive, if a bit cartoony, but Gould, Fletcher, and Locher had some pretty cartoony characters as well. Joe and Mike didn’t make their own characters that cartoony but brought in characters from other strips that did not seem stylistically appropriate at all for Dick Tracy and should have remained in Gasoline Alley’s Old Comics Home.
Thanks, Mark. You know how to keep things exciting.
No he didn’t….Yeti set off his gun to fire three darts as opposed to one? Who could he take out…Rose, Daisy and Tracy? Then Sam put a cap in his forehead. Ferret and Ape are saying in unison " hands up….don’t shoot"!
2-… So with a machine gun thingee aimed right at me, I think my best bet is to lower my dart gun out of sight below the table and…
3-…then get the jump on them because I can raise my arm, take aim and take them all out before Rose can squeeze a trigger! In fact, as an expert in women, I can tell that she is falling in love with me and wouldn’t actually be able to hurt me. SUCKAAA! OK. On 3. 1, 2…
Oh geeze! Yeti’s gun has a fire select that goes all the way to “rock & roll” ?! (Or maybe 3 round burst which is still plenty if he has a fast trigger finger and a lot of capacity) Yeti is gonna try to spray & pray with a gun that shoots poison?! This is gonna be bad news for everybody in that tunnel! Daaang I am on the edge of my seat, and I find myself worried for the safety of Yeti’s henchpeople!
Another excellent strip .. just one question. In panel 2, it looks like Yeti’s gun is pointing to the right, but in the 3rd panel the barrel is pointing to the left. Just asking.
Uh-oh. Looks as though Yeti has switched from single shot per trigger-pull (a.k.a. semi-automatic) to multiple rounds per trigger-pull (a.k.a. burst automatic). I had thought his dart gun held only one dart at a time, but it looks now to be a repeater, with a magazine containing a number of darts. At any rate, that’s how I interpret what he’s doing with his dart gun. And that would mean he intends (or hopes) to shoot more than one opponent. Who?

Yeti’s thinking “I’m going to poison dart all you mofos!”
If I were Sam, I would be using Tracy for a ballistic shield. Tracy’s been proven to be impervious to bullets so why not poison darts?
And like Neil said, LOVE the speech bubble spread!

I don’t think Tracy is stupid enough to assume that lowering his hand out of sight means he dropped his weapon.

March 3rd—AP—FITBIT RECALLS ONE MILLION WATCHES AFTER BURN INJURIES
….“after dozens of users reported burn injuries after the batteries over heated”.
78 reports of burn injuries—two reports of third degree burns and four reports of second degree burns.
no Mention of what “the power element” was,but I think TRACY fans can make an educated guess.
