Empty warehouse first because they don’t need a warrant for that, means the the call centre in the old TV station building is safe for now. I suspect it won’t be for long, though.
The coppers will probably find lots of stolen equipment at the warehouse but I’m not so sure about finding any criminals there. Maybe a few techies or grunt workers. The true shenanigans are happening at the TV station. Who will they find once they get the warrant?
A question comes to mind. Is the warehouse empty? I mean no presence of human beings. Who is at the tv station? Someone trying to do their version of the Dot and Tonsil’s show?
Hmmm…all this talk of a warehouse reminds me….hired hitman Deadeye, contracted by Mr. Scratch to ‘silence’ Cathal O’Malley but shot Thunderchild by mistake…is still holed up in an abandoned warehouse on the wharf in my story…I really need to get him moving lol…but Lizz and Lee are searching the waterfront with Tracy and Sam on the way…will they find Deadeye…or will he make a clean getaway?
Sam’s thinking deli stop. For…clues.Yeeeeah. Lotsof clues there. Tracy can stay behind and watch the acr. Shouldn’t take more’n an hour or two to sweat the truth out of the staff.
That is a fun angle for the car in the first panel! I dig it! In addition to treating us to some actual investigating in this story, we’re also getting some Procedural too. Nice!
The colorist still has the light bar on backwards. Maybe it spins around like a propeller on a beanie? On the other hand, that last panel is nicely done by both Shelley and the colorist.
People are fussing about the holographic laptop, but I think it’s kind of cool. It’s acting as a light source which is an interesting issue from a physics standpoint, but I’ll take it as classic sci-fi.
2-…Smell my breath, Tracy – any sign of onions? I lost my toothpick so there might still be some onion stuck in my teeth.
3-DT: Your breath always smells like a Porta Potty at a construction site where the only food truck that stops there sells brown bean burritos and nothing else!
SAM: NOW YOU’VE DONE IT, TRACY! I’m hungry again. I gotta find that food truck! DT: WAIT! We’ve almost cracked the case! Oh, never mind…
So, is Tracy working on THREE cases – Phone Scammers, Phone Equipment Theft and a Murder Attempt that will surprisingly all come together as ONE? HOW CONVENIENT!
Art work carries the day—prowl car looming; Sam cherubically wise; Tracy on top of his game and using the virtual console. But the dialogue also shows the plot pace accelerating (just as is the panel 1 squadrol).
Like Tracy and Sam, we seem (at last) to be getting somewhere….

I thought they just gave Tracy an Etch-A-Sketch and told him it as a laptop.

Gosh, for a dynamic duo like Dick and Sam, driving around in a official Bat mobile, this story is moving at a snails pace!
I bet even Chick Tracy has given up on this alleged story!

A holographic laptop… with a touchscreen? How do you touch what isn’t physically…
Need to remember that early in the strip the two-way wrist radio was SF.
